Medical volunteering in Greece
Hi everyone
My name is Mark Boothroyd, I'm a registered nurse on a medical ward thats part of the Accident & Emergency department at St Thomas Hospital in London.
This August I will be travelling to Greece for two weeks to volunteer with the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) - Global Response, a volunteer medical team that provides free healthcare to refugees trapped on the Greek border with Macedonia and Serbia. This work is vital as many refugees are unable to access healthcare on their travels through Greece and Europe, either through lack of money, or fear of arrest and desportation.
This will be my second trip to Greece with SAMS. Two months ago I worked with them providing nursing care and coordinating teams of volunteers both at the informal refugee camps dotted around the Northern Greek countryside, and in the formal refugee camps which the Greek government has established around Thessaloniki.
You can read accounts of my last trip here:

I'm asking for donations to cover the cost of my flights and accomodation, and basic living expenses while in Greece. I'm using my own annual leave to secure time off to volunteer, and will not receieve any wage or payment for doing so. Any money donated in excess of these costs will be donated to SAMS to fund their work providing medical care for refugees making the journey from Turkey to Europe.

Please give generously so I can join SAMS in Greece doing this vital work.
