Hey, my name is Kayla-Marie and in May 2026 I will be travelling to Zambia for 8 weeks to volunteer as Women's Football Development Officer.

I will be heading there with Volunteer Zambia, an international volunteering programme ran by the Wallace Group, which partners with seven UK Universities, in collaboration with Sport in Action in Zambia. Each summer students and staff volunteers travel to Zambia to empower communities and enrich the lives of young Zambians through the power of sport, leadership, and education, with a particular focus on women and girls.

My purpose in Zambia will be to collaborate with local partners to share knowledge, skills and experiences that support the growth of sustainable sports programs. I aim to help develop community initiatives by working alongside Zambian staff and volunteers, promoting mutual learning and cultural exchange. Through this experience, I hope to leave a lasting positive change whilst gaining deeper understanding of Zambia's culture and approach to sport development.

I'm hoping to raise £2,000 to take part in the project, the money raised will help cover essential costs such as accommodation, equipment, travel and necessary training. Over the coming months, I'll be hosting a number of fundraising events so keep an eye out!
