The Dupree family is beyond words when it comes to expressing their gratitude over the generous donations made so that they can continue to support and focus on Bowie's recovery. Many people in the community are asking where they can donate to the upcoming HOG event so we are increasing the goal for Bowie's GoFundMe page to help alleviate some of the costs of the extensive therapy that he needs to be able to eat and speak again. As you can see from these pictures Bowie has made great progress since the accident in May but he still has a long journey ahead. Bowie's progress has been inclusive of learning to sit again, hold his head up and walking. Many of the fine motor skills necessary to accomplish simple every day tasks still need to be conquered. While Bowie had 5 weeks of inpatient rehab and 6 weeks outpatient therapy, it is still an every day necessity. The Dupree's insurance policy only covered 20 OT/PT combined and 20 speech therapies. To date apraxia, which is the inability to perform particular purposive actions, as a result of brain damage limits Bowie's ability to successfully eat, drink and speak. Dystonia, which causes his left hand to draw up, still requires daily therapy and botox injections. The Dupree's recently were forced to get insurance that is over $1,700 a month and only covers 12 PT sessions per year. Even with the new insurance they recently received a bill  for outpatient rehab that was not covered by their insurance company and they are left with an exorbitant amount of medical bills on top of this. Bowie's recovery has been miraculous, we are in prayer that he will be able to eat again and one day soon be able to speak so that he can tell his story. The Dupree's are forever grateful for the love, the prayers and financial support from so many of you. The GoFundMe page is what helps Bowie have continued therapy, so thank you for the continued support.

May 2016
The Dupree family had no idea that a casual bike ride on Memorial Day  would turn out so traumatic. The oldest son Bowie went ahead of the family on his bike traveling very fast when something happened that caused him to fly off his bike and over the handlebars. Due to the severity  of Bowies injuries he had to be airlifted to Emory Hospital where he is in ICU and in critical condition. He has been put into a coma and on a ventilator, he has swelling of the brain and other injuries have still been undetermined. Thank God Bowie had his helmet on to prevent the injuries from being even more traumatic than they already are. The family is in the beginning stages of what will be a long road ahead and because of this we created the go fund me account to make it easier on Anya and Danny so that they can focus on Bowie.  Most of you know how expensive medical bills are and how expensive living at the hospital can be and because of that we are asking all of their family and loved ones to help them out so that money will not be something they have to focus on.  We are creating a facebook group named Praying for Bowie so that everyone can be updated on Bowies condition and so that you can leave a prayer or message. Thank you for you help and donations in advance.
