On December 16, at about 9:00 PM, a male drove a van into the Burien Ross at high speeds. The van crashed right through the doors, destroying them, and struck several people. Deputies arrived within minutes, and found the store enveloped in chaos. The van had stopped halfway into the store, and had several people trapped underneath it. King County Firefighters arrived on scene, and a combined effort between the deputies and firefighters got the van off of the injured victims underneath. One of the victims is David Chiche, a boy who just turned two years old at the beginning of this month. David is a happy, curious little boy who loves Paw Patrol, and is as resilient as he is adventurous. David was with his mother, Lezly, and his grandfather, Obdulio, shopping during the crash. Obdulio was pushing David in his stroller, as they as a family were doing some holiday and birthday shopping together. Lezly, a 22-year-old single mother, turns 23 later this month and has taken care of David despite his health problems causing him to have stomach surgery when he was just one year old. Their lives changed in an instant when that van careened right into Obdulio and baby David. Lezly wasn’t hit by the van, but watched as her father and only child were hit by the van right in front of her eyes. Moments after it happened, panic gripped Lezly as she realized that the van’s wheel was crushing her father’s leg, and David was under a pile of debris and merchandise, his stroller destroyed. When the van was lifted off of David and Obdulio, Lezly had to be held back from running to them as medics saved their lives. David was rushed by ambulance to Harborview Medical Center, and medics regained a pulse and were able to get David breathing once again before he was ushered into surgery. Obdulio was sent to Harborview as well in critical condition with severe, immobilizing injuries to his legs. Both David and Obdulio were fighting for their lives, but were stabilized by first responders as well as the Harborview staff after several medical procedures. The two of them remain in Harborview and are expected to survive. The hospital stay alone will cost this family thousands of dollars. The loss of income, and the rehabilitation will cost them even more. Fortunately, David has medical insurance, but Obdulio does not. With the holidays coming up, and this being the birthday month of both Lezly and David, finances are already tight for this family. Eleven total people were victimized during this crash, and many of them went to the hospital with varying degrees of injury. Lezly’s family is strong, and have been through so much already, but they need your help today. The family is requesting monetary donations to help pay for medical bills, toys, and support for David. Any amount will make a difference in David’s life today. the funds will go directly to the obdulio account Chiche Mayen who is the affected and grandfather of David Menjivar who is the second affected by the accident. https://komonews.com/news/local/video-shows-van-speeding-into-burien-ross-store En la noche del día lunes 16 estábamos de compras en la tienda ross de burien cuando de repente una ven entra rompiendo los vidrios y llevando todo a su paso con ello a David Menjivar chiche de 2 años y Obdulio Chiche de 47 años siendo abuelo y nieto.
