Kateesha Atterberry

With a heavy heart, I would like to begin sharing a narrative of events and news as things continue to unfold surrounding an auto accident involving Kateesha Atterberry's 2 children, Vernon and Vivienne and their father, "Big Vern". Tuesday evening, while visiting their father in California over the Thanksgiving Holiday, the 3 were traveling on the interstate in inclement weather, hit a patch of black ice, and collided into and under a semi truck which was stopped on the left side of the interstate chaining its tires. Both children sustained life threatening head trauma including multiple skull fractures and lacerations.

By the grace of God and the excellent medical staff at UC Davis Children's Hospital in Sacramento, the children have survived but continue to be in critical condition in the ICU. Big Vern was able to duck prior to the collision and avoided life threatening injuries.

Kateesha learned of the accident Tuesday evening and immediately flew down to join her children at the hospital. She is understandably in a state of shock and trying to process the severity of the situation. Over the coming days, we will all be working together to assess the needs of the family and will post further information as details continue to develop.

There will be many surgeries and procedures over the next several weeks and possibly months. Kateesha will be juggling her work commitments in the Seattle area while remaining present with her children in California. The impacts financially will be extraordinary and very difficult to quantify at this time.
