In 2020 we are raising funds for Charity Build Group , a not-for-profit company established as a long term sustainable income source for Eagles Wings. Our big picture dream [was] to raise $100,000 to start Charity Home #3. But as the housing market is currently going nuts it has proved difficult to make the math work with a new home build for numerous reasons!
But, we are not resting up, simply moving sideways into converting a new van into a 2 berth motorhome to be hired out. This area is a more stable, risk adverse option; and a very cool project to move forward with.
Hoping to start this in September 2021.
To raise these funds we are asking people to jump out of planes, while myself and others ride our bikes a very, very long way.
In December, 2019 a few of us jumped over beautiful Lake Taupo to begin our efforts early! Some enjoyed, others were completely terrified but still jumped. Then a few weeks later, more jumps. This time over the Sunshine Coast on New Year’s Eve at sunset!
$7,000 was raised.
On July 01 I began an attempt to break the current Guinness World record for fastest to cycle 10,000km currently set at a touch over 22 days. I did not make it, but over 100 cyclists joined our Strava Club named Ubuntu to finish off the 10,000km together.
$48,000 was raised (... and hopefully still counting).
Now we move back to our tandem jumps with a groups jumping out of Skydive Noosa on:
- 29 August, 2020
- New Years Eve 2020
- 23 January 2021
- 24 April 2021 ... and onwards!
As we continue on, funds will be directed as follows:
50% of our fundraising will go towards Charity Builds motorhome conversion #1
50% will go directly to EW Australia in order to have funds on the ground assisting communities EW Zambia serves.
We are doing whatever it takes to achieve something good in the life of disadvantage children and families. That’s our heart; that’s why we do what we do.
On behalf of Charity Build Group.
Thank you,
Reid
