Everyone Can help disabled children do what all children love to do - play video games, we are in need of a 3D Printer to help us adapt controllers to ensure every child can game and join in the fun!
Everyone Can is a charity that help disabled people through the power of technology. Through training and assistive technology we help disabled people speak, live independently, control their environment and have fun! We offer a range of free services for disabled people including assessments; this is where we find out what a person wants to achieve, how their disability is holding them back and the best assistive technology to help them achieve their goal. We also run free gaming sessions for disabled children, we are aware that activities can be limited for disabled children but thanks to technology we can ensure everyone can game. We have assistive gaming stations to help children play who are unable to use a regular controller, we can use eye gaze, joysticks, switches, quadsticks etc. We will quickly assess them and find the right control method for them. This Christmas we have one major thing on our wish list for the charity! At our Technology & Gaming Centre for disabled people we'd LOVE to raise enough funds to purchase a 3D Printer and the gadgets and materials to go along with it. This will be the gift that keeps on giving because when we carry out assessments for disabled people we more often that not need to order specific pieces of assistive equipment. For example various joystick heads, handles, buttons etc. We assess a variety of people each with different disabilities and therefore different needs, if we had a 3D Printer we'd be able to quickly create the piece of equipment needed to help that person achieve their goals.
Sadly, the equipment needed although only sometimes a tiny piece of plastic can be very expensive so having a 3D printer to use time and time again to produce whats needed will make a massive saving to the charity and to the people we help.
