Dec Vallance Surgery and Recovery

Dec has recently had surgery with Charlie Teo in Sydney to remove a very rare, cancerous tumor ('ependymoma') in his spinal cord.  The surgery was incredibly risky and our family has in the past struggled to find a surgeon who would perform it. Until Charlie, we had lost hope. 

Although Dec won't require any chemo or radiation, his doctors anticipate that his recovery will take around two years. Unfortunately, this will mean a lot of difficult trips to and from Sydney for check-ups, MRIs and therapy. 

We are seriously relieved that the surgery was successful, but this is only Dec's first step on his way to recovery. Thank you to all the friends, family and colleagues who have sent well wishes and have provided so much support - I know how much Dec and our family appreciates it. This go-fund me has been set up as per Dec's request to assist our parents with the costs of the surgery and the future travel to Sydney (accommodation, food, flights) to get there and back.
