West Hamilton Beach Volunteers, INC.

Hello, my name is Nicholas Spinelli. I am the Chief of the West Hamilton Beach Volunteer Fire Department in Howard Beach, Queens, New York. I am asking for your assistance today to help raise at least $5,000.00 to buy ten (10) PETZLEXO-AP Personal Escape Systems for our interior firefighters.

We are a 100% Volunteer Fire Department not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization

To give you some background on our department, the West Hamilton Beach Volunteer Fire Department has provided the areas of Howard Beach, Rockwood Park, Hamilton Beach, Jamaica Bay, RamblersVille, Spring Creek, and The Belt Parkway with emergency care since 1928.

Our response area consists of a population of 89,816 resident, about 5,500 residential homes, commercial shopping space along Cross Bay Blvd, two public schools, one catholic school, two catholic churches, one Lutheran church, one synagogue, one Judea center, the Belt Parkway from Pennsylvania Avenue, Brooklyn exit eastbound to approximately 150th Street in Queens in both directions, the Nassau Expressway from approximately 114th street eastbound to North Hangar Road in JFK airport and in the opposite direction westbound, the JFK AirTrain, the

MTA “A” train, and JFK Airport for “the crash box” (crash box is called when an inbound plane is having inflight or landing issues).

We have responded to many devastating events that have affected our city and state such as but not limited to: Hurricane Gloria in 1985, WTC Bombing in 1993, WTC september 11, 2001, American Airlines flight 587 on November 11, 2001 in Belle Harbor, Hurricane Irene, and SuperStorm Hurricane Sandy.
