Packin' Heat 2022 Help The Homeless
Hi there! I am La Terra Scott-Comer and I am raising money to give long underwear to the homeless of Grand Rapids, Michigan. At a time of such uncertainty, anger and division in our country, I ask that you help me to demonstrate kindness and love to the less fortunate.
I can personally testify that amazing things can happen when people show acts of kindness and demonstrate the love of Christ instead of just talking about it. Giving and participating in this project has helped me spiritually and emotionally as much as it has benefited the recipients in a material way. Maybe more so.
This project is a collaborative effort between individuals and organizations. Every year we distribute backpacks containing long johns (thermal underwear), socks, hats and mittens among other things (depending on cost and availability).
I have often been asked "Long john's? Why not blankets"? There are several reasons. I believe the Lord told me to provide long johns to the homeless. On a less spiritual note, would you hire someone that showed up to a job interview wrapped in a blanket?
This volunteer effort is completely funded by charitable donations. Your donation is tax deductible and you will receive a receipt confirming this if you provide your contact information.
