Megan Yackovich is fundraising

PROJECT 2020
We need your help to bring this collaborative performance project to life and to support performing artists in Taos by making a tax-deductible donation through this GoFundMe campaign for Ballet Taos, the presenters of Project 20/20, through our fiscal agent The Taos Arts Council. Your donation will help cover production costs including livestream equipment and set up, theatre technicians, film crew and theatre rental, as well as employing gifted performing artists from our community. Let's keep the arts blooming in Taos during this trying time. Any size donation will be appreciated and make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to all of us.
Ballet Taos presents Project 20/20 a multimedia creation platform and fundraising event that produces and distributes spectacular art to our community, from our community. We will produce a series of events that will be distributed across our community and highlight local excellence. Join us live as we launch Project 20/20 with a drive-in event projected behind the TCA or live-streamed directly to you in the comfort of your living room. Our creative team features world-class talent from across our vibrant community coming together to weave an enthralling night of light, color, sound, movement, song, and spectacle! All proceeds go towards keeping arts alive in Northern New Mexico and audiences inspired across the world.
Join us for our next exciting spectacle!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the first event of project 20/20! We are now striking out on our next endeavor. This continuation of the project takes audiences into the subtle and spooky myths of this beloved transitional season. In our second edition, we open a window from the comfort of your living room into a strange world of birds and beasts, mystery and mayhem, intrigue and beauty, woven together expertly on the stage of the Taos Comunity Auditorium. Featured works by Shakespeare and originally composed drama share the stage playfully and precariously with dance, film, sound and spectacle in this dreamlike multi-media experience. Witness the debut of Megan Yackovich's (bio to follow) daring reinterpretation of the classic ballet 'Firebird,' to the chilling score by Igor Stravinsky. The show will also feature black and white films by Rich Greywolf and Barnaby Hazen. Their work will be accompanied by songs and stories new and old in an intriguing show for audiences of all ages. So gather round with those you love to be mesmerized and bedeviled by this, our second installment of project 20/20

Project 20/20 was created in the face of stark realities facing the creative community as members of this world of possibilities, drastically shifted. As a nonprofit arts organization, Ballet Taos found itself ineligible for government stimulus initiatives and unable to produce work or continue its educational programs in the face of the national shutdown. This is not an isolated incident. Artists across the nation are being adversely effected in the wake of systemic failures. In acknowledgment of this unfortunate reality and in solidarity with our fellow creatives, Ballet Taos launched Project 20/20 as a platform to raise funds for local artists and programs. This is an initiative by artists for artists intended as a place for us to come together to produce great work and keep our doors open.
We look at this unprecedented time as a new opportunity to display homegrown talent and innovative work to the widest audience yet. Broadband availability has almost doubled in Taos county in response to the reality of schooling during a global pandemic. For the first time ever, we are able to reach out to almost our entire community in their own homes. Our work is now more available and necessary than ever before - Necessary not only to an audience suddenly stuffed into seclusion, but also to performers thrust into uncertainty. All proceeds go directly to contributors, the Taos Community Auditorium, and Ballet Taos in an effort to keep the arts alive and available through the pandemic. This reciprocal relationship enriches the lives of our viewers who in turn sustain our local arts ecosystem.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of our inaugural event which employed new presentation methods to bring classical and contemporary dance, spoken word poetry, film, originally composed music, and insight to the stage of the Taos Community Auditorium. This dramatically saturated experience was guided by series of interviews from artistic luminaries in our community, including former New York City Ballet Principal Dancer and International Teacher, Jock Soto, and Megan Yackovich, Artistic Director of Ballet Taos. The show included original choreography set on the Ballet Taos ensemble to a score assembled by choreographer Zac Bigbee. The show was replete with dynamic combinations of song, movement, speech and more brought together by our creative team of media experts. All proceeds from past and future events go to keeping Taos Community Auditorium, Ballet Taos and the individual artists and partner organizations of Project 20/20 alive and well.

WHO WE ARE
ART IS VITAL. MOVEMENT IS ESSENTIAL. DANCE IS PIVOTAL.
Ballet Taos is a 501c3 arts organization, fiscally sponsored by The Taos Arts Council, serving Northern New Mexico communities. Our company is three faceted; the professional company, the academy, and our outreach initiative, Project Relevé. Each facet supports, educates, and inspires the next. Our professional company promotes innovation, collaboration and diversity through original performance of classical and contemporary dance designed to move audiences.
Our academy provides quality dance education rooted in classical tradition that prepares students for higher education or professional careers in dance and the arts.
Our outreach program, Project Relevé, exists to ensure the future of dance in our community by instilling an appreciation for the arts through progressive initiatives in the public schools and classes open to all ages and abilities.
With your support, we are a financially sustainable arts organization that will continue to fulfill our mission, and serve the communities of Northern New Mexico, respectfully.
