LEICESTERSHIRE & RUTLAND ORGANISATION FOR THE RELIEF OF SUFFERING LIMITED

At the end of last year we could barely run for a bus…but somehow we have stuck with it..so naturally we’ve signed up for a half marathon!!

We will be taking part in Run Leicester on October 11th.

Monday is officially the start of our training, which means sore legs, heavy breathing and regretting our life choices about 3 minutes into every run are all still to come.

This is easily the hardest thing we’ve ever attempted and I’m sure there will be plenty of times where quitting will feel very tempting but we have made a commitment and we will be seeing it through.

We’re doing this for LOROS, an incredible charity supporting people and families when they need it most, which definitely puts our upcoming struggle into perspective.

If you’re able to support, donate, or even just share this, it would mean the world. Your encouragement is what will keep us moving forward, one step at a time

I am taking the plunge and falling from the Sky!

As some of you may know LOROS has a very special place in my heart. Not only do I get the privilege to work along side the most incredible, caring, supportive and dedicated Nurses, Health care assistants, Doctors, catering staff and not forgetting the incredible volunteers... The list for the most amazing people who work within Loros is truly endless.

I have also experienced the care from a family point, my incredible Gramps went into LOROS for two weeks for pain management. The care that was given to my Gramps was incredible. The alcohol trolley in evening was definitely his favourite.

LOROS, like many Hospices are struggling due to being a charity. Hospice care is so very important and it is vital. The free care provides specialist care and support to terminally ill patients and their families.

And as every penny helps towards being able to keep providing the care. I decided to do my little part and take for the Sky.

I will be doing a Skydive on the 19th September 2026 at 10.30am. To raise money for LOROS.

Thank you for all your support ❤️

I’m taking on the Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) At Night Challenge — a 21km trek over 8 hours, through the dark — all in support of LOROS Hospice.

I’m fundraising for LOROS because of the incredible care and compassion they give to people facing life-limiting illnesses, and to the families who stand beside them. This cause means so much to me personally. LOROS cared for my nan in her final weeks, treating her with dignity, kindness, and genuine warmth. They didn’t just support her — they supported all of us during one of the hardest times in our lives. Every member of staff went above and beyond. They always had time, always showed compassion, and made an unbearable situation just that little bit easier. The care she received was nothing short of amazing.

LOROS does so much more than provide medical care — they bring comfort, reassurance, and humanity when it’s needed most. Now, I want to give something back and help them continue this vital work for others who need it.

Right now, LOROS is facing significant financial challenges, and every contribution truly makes a difference.

If you’re able to support me — whether by donating or simply sharing — I would be incredibly grateful. Thank you for helping me support a cause that means so much.

Every donation, no matter the size, will help LOROS continue to care for patients and families across our community ❤️

After losing Rob, we wanted to do something in his memory for the people who cared for him — and for us — during the hardest days of our lives.

We are raising money for LOROS Hospice, and every donation, no matter how small, will help support other families going through the heartbreak and pain that we now understand all too well.

The care, compassion and dignity shown to Rob during his final days meant everything to us. LOROS didn’t just care for him — they supported our whole family with kindness, warmth and understanding at a time when we felt completely broken. We will never be able to thank them enough for the comfort and support they gave us.

So thank you so much for every donation, message, share and act of kindness. The love and support we’ve received has carried us through the darkest days imaginable, and it truly means more than words can ever say.

I’m Aimee and I work as a Registered Nursing Associate at LOROS and I am raising money to benefit our Hospice by Skydiving. The thought of it petrifies me ‍ and is very out of my comfort zone.

Any donation will help make an impact.

TL;DR - In April 2023 we lost my Dad. He spent his final weeks being cared for by LOROS. Mikey inspired me with his hundred mile bike ride, so I've decided to challenge myself with my fundraiser. 12 marathons in 12 months...

19th April 2023 was a crazy day. My Dad finally succumbed to his battle with illness and left a hole in our worlds. The next 12 months were pretty chaotic for me, but Mikey decided he was going to complete the LOROS 100 mile Leicestershire ride in September 2024. I was impressed and genuinely inspired with his commitment during the ride and that spawned a want within me to raise money for the place that made my Dad's last weeks comfortable and dignified. So welcome to my GoFundMe page, where I am going to run a marathon a month from at least April 2025 until March 2026. Then with fingers crossed, I might throw in a lucky 13th for good measure. All race entries are being paid for by me because I am adamant that as much money as possible goes to the charity and the amazing work that those people do. Not just on the hospice side of things, but on the aftercare for partners and the community work that happens on a weekly basis.

We’re raising money for LOROS Hospice, an incredible charity that desperately needs funding to continue operating and providing the outstanding care they give to patients and families.

This cause is very personal to me. LOROS has been there for my dad, supporting him with compassion and dignity as he fights brain cancer. The care, kindness, and support they’ve shown our family means more than words can say.

This fundraiser is our way of giving something back and saying thank you for everything they’ve done not just for us, but for so many others going through the toughest times.

Any donation, big or small, will make a real difference and help LOROS continue their amazing work.

My wonderful step-mum, Sandra, passed away on 6th November. I am running the Brighton Half Marathon in March in her memory and raising money for the amazing hospice, LOROS.

I’m not setting a target, (although there is one to set up the page) I just want to thank the incredible team who looked after her. Even small gestures, like the ladies on reception, keeping us updated on traitors, the worker who stayed late to make us a coffee, or the nurse who remembered my sister’s name, all these acts of kindness helped us through a very difficult time.

I know Sandra would want to thank the staff, and we’ll do this together.

Sandra was the most wonderful, kind, and unforgettable person. She showed us what it truly means to be the best mum and the best human being, loving everyone she met, with no judgement, only kindness.

Every donation matters, and even just reading this story and remembering or getting to know Sandra means the world.

In typical Chev fashion — a little essay! Thank you for reading

Opcare are having a year of kindness and the team in Leicester, who deliver the Prosthetic, Orthotic and Wheelchair services, are going to walk 500 miles in November to raise money for LOROS.
