Hanalei Initiative Recovery Fund
However, our community is amazingly resilient especially after experiencing the devastating rains of 2018 and has immediately responded to this disaster by putting systems in place. Personal boats and ATVs are being used to transport supplies, essential medications, keiki to and from school, and any other people who need resources not available beyond the landslide. Fuel to keep operating is expensive and this cost is current being paid out of pocket by members of our community.
Donations are greatly appreciated to help cover the cost for fuel for this ferrying/shuttling effort as well as meeting other urgent needs to help our community. Your contribution will go to the Hanalei Initiative, a local nonprofit ( 501(c)3 ) to ensure everything is accounted for. We don't yet know if this road closure will be days, or weeks, or longer. Fuel (gasoline and propane) and meeting transportation needs at this time is MORE important than food, water, or other supplies. But without the fuel and ferrying system we cannot get those types of supplies in.
Your donation to the Hanalei Initiative is tax deductible. Mahalo for your kokua. Together we can do this, Kaua'i Strong!
