Rebuilding the Superdrome
Current situation:
The Superdrome structure was auctioned and sold to race car track, who just wanted the lights and the stands. They were planning on selling the track structure for scrap metal. I negotiated the purchase, and wrote the check for the facility. We bought it instead. IT'S OURS!! Now, to move it and rebuild it.
How we got here:
In December 2017, the College and the City decided to discontinue their management agreement of the Superdrome. The City was willing to renew it, but the College refused. They passed a $600 million-dollar bond package for new buildings and facilities. They need the land back. They would not entertain any situation where the Superdrome remained in place.
Immediate Steps:
We created this GoFundMe to raise the money needed to purchase the track, dismantle, and store the track structure. We have purchased the track, and still need money to pay to dismantle, transport, and store the track until we have a site to rebuild. Additionally, we will need volunteers to help with the labor.
Next Steps:
We are also raising money to rebuild. First, we will use the money for the purchase of the track, the costs of disassembling (tools & equipment), transportation & storage costs, and finally the rebuilding costs on at a new location. We are working on new locations, so stay tuned. The money will be managed by myself with guidance from the Superdrome Advisory Board.

I’m excited to announce that 2-time Olympian, Pan Am Games Champion, and Elite World Championship Medalist Carl Sundquist is coming to Texas to help with the Superdrome “deconstruction” on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. He is an excellent example of the passion of Trackies, and the importance of this project. He’s excited to come help, and even more excited about what the future holds for the Superdrome. Come out, introduce yourself, talk cycling, and help us prepare for a new Superdrome.
