Beauty will need life long treatment for kidney failure and we hope you can help.
Just 1,5 weeks we adopted Beauty from the animal shelter. Me and my boyfriend just started living together and we missed the presence of a lovable animal. We preferred an older cat with no known medical needs due to our student budget and our relatively small appartment.
We instantaneously fell in love with Beauty, a 14-year old cat whom was left at the asylum since her owner passed away. She was very scared and the changes had a big impact on her. She definitely did not feel well in the shelter. However, once at our home, she flourished and became very affectionate towards us in just a couple of days. We are very happy with her.
We knew upfront that she would need special food for her kidneys which is why she gets K/D Hills food specially for her kidneys. We were told that if she got this for the rest of her life she would be fine. However, when visiting the vet 2 days ago, we were told that according to blood/ urine tests, Beauty was already in phase 2 of the chronic kidney disease and that she would need medicine every day for the rest of her life. This to slow down the process and ensure she still lives a quality life. Without the medicine, she will poison her entire body very quickly.
This medicine is called Semintra and is unfortunately very expensive for us. It costs 35,65 euro's for a 30ml bottle which will last us about 3,5 weeks. We want Beauty to have the most comfortable life after her traumatic experience but this extra medicine does make it a lot more difficult for us to get around. But as she already means so much to us, we hope some other animal lovers can help us out.
The calculation is based on a year treatment of 13 bottles.
