Anyone that has ever taken a class at Karate Academy Pembroke Pines, knows what an amazing dojo it is. Renshi Marius Amzand 4th Dan Shuri-ryu, US Navy Veteran, had a dream and passion and we saw it come to fruition in KAPP. Karate Academy Pembroke Pines is more than a dojo, it is a community and a family.
At their peak they had close to 120 students, but due to a lease issue, they had to move 2 years ago. They lost almost half of their students when that happened. Soon after that Renshi Amzand took a day job to help support the school, and his dream to help instill confidence and skill in his students.
Renshi Amzand has been on disability for the last several months due to multiple surgeries for a herniated disc. While he has been on reduced disability pay, the school has fallen behind on their lease and he cannot keep the doors open anymore. Unfortunately the money owed for rent must still be paid.
Even with that Renshi Amzand and all the Sensei's have commited to still teaching the kids, even if it needs to happen in a park.
This is a crippling amount of debt, and one we hope the Amzand family does not have to handle alone. The changes in our sons and daughter lives due to Renshi Amzand and all the instructors are incredible, and I am sure all the KAPP family would agree with me.
All money raised will go to the Azmand family to help pay the past money due for the school and medical bills if needed. We are organizing this simply to help and will keep no part of the funds raised. We just appreciate the difference Renshi Amzand and all the teachers at Karate Academy Pembroke Pines have made in the lives of our children.
