Send a paramedic to Standing Rock

Donation protected

About me
Hello! My name is Ann and I am paramedic who has been invited to Standing Rock to help provide medical care there for a couple of weeks. I am raising funds to mostly help with purchasing consumables like gas, food, water, and propane; along with some cold weather/winter gear to help me stay warm. I plan on being in North Dakota from around the 19th of December to Jan 1st.

Wait...didn't all that get shut down?
Despite the Army Corps denial of the drilling permit, many people have elected to stay put through the winter. Right now there are an estimated 2500 people between the 3 main camps. Many of the medics on site have been there long term and are exhausted and need a break.

Why me?
I grew up in Alaska and have worked in the bitter cold in the far north of the state and have also worked remote medicine so I have a good idea of what I'm getting myself into. I've been a paramedic for over 10 years and I've got the time to go while classes are on break. I support the rights of the water protectors to do what they're doing, and believe that everyone deserves medical care.

This is currently what the camps look like:

Why I started the GoFundMe
Unfortunately I do not have a lot of financial resources. I work full time volunteering for my non-profit, The Code Green Campaign , and am also a full time student at Central Washington University. Code Green is too small to pay wages, but big enough it needs full time attention so I made the decision earlier this year to quit working and live off my savings while we get Code Green built up. This means I don't have a lot extra sitting around to use for this trip.

The money will mainly be used for:
Gas (~$300)
Propane (~$180)
Food/water (~$200)
Some of the cold weather clothing I'm missing. (~$300)
Supplies to help insulate my dwelling (4 season Everest-level tent). (~$200)
A few nights in the nearby casino hotel, so I have access to showers, internet, and electricity. ($100/night)

If for some reason I'm not able to go
If I'm not able to go or there is extra money after I will use it to purchase items the camps need and have it shipped to them and/or donate consumables like food locally to an appropriate chairty.

Thank you everyone for reading!
