Mission: WV Disaster Relief

My name is Chris King and I’m raising money to help with disaster relief in Clay, West Virginia.  On June 23-25, waters reached record heights as areas in West Virginia were decimated by flooding.  From Thursday afternoon to Friday morning, the Elk River rose 27 feet.  News outlets are calling this “A 1,000 Year Flood.”  My hometown of Clay was one of the affected areas.    

The money collected will be used to provide immediate help to those affected.  The money will primary be used to purchase building supplies and necessary household goods for people who lost their homes.  Some money may also be used to purchase food.  Since I don’t know the nature of all the needs that will be addressed, I will exercise great discretion in using funds that are given.  I will gladly provide a copy of all receipts and expenses.  

I am a Pastor at Bayou View Baptist Church in Gulfport, MS.  While the money collected will be used for disaster relief, I will personally also work for the glory of God and to advance the Gospel.  While helping to provide physical needs, I’ll also address people’s spiritual needs, pointing them to Jesus Christ and encouraging them to find hope in God’s Word.
