<div>Our charity has relied on private homes since 2019 – but we always planned to open a kitten adoption centre. We're very excited to announce that we have rented a new space in the centre of Peniche!

<div>We're so happy with this location. It's on a busy street and will showcase our kittens and charity to more people, and enable our enthusiastic volunteers to work closely with the cats.
</div>

<div>But before we can move in our first kittens, we need to fully equip and furnish the centre and build three cat-safe walls for the rooms.
</div>

Build Peniche's first kitten adoption centre

<div>In 2024, our street cat trap, neuter, return (TNR) work is trialling a groundbreaking community sterilising programme in the village of Casais de Mestre Mendo. We want to use this year to refine this so we can roll it out more widely next year, and support other communities to start doing this work.
</div>

<div>Sterilising street cats is a vital part of our work, and reduces the number of kittens being born on the streets.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our work is fully supported by donations and we're all volunteers. Every cent we raise goes directly to the kitten and cats.
</div>

<div>We're the Silver Coast's only specialist kitten rescue and are a registered charity in Portugal. The Kitten Connection rescues and rehomes kittens and sterilises street cats in Peniche.

The Kitten Connection

<div>We took in little Ebony a month ago – thrown in a rubbish bin with her four newborn kittens. Despite only being a kitten herself, she's a great mum, feeding and playing with her beautiful babies. But on Thursday, she suddenly started vomiting and not wanting to move. She was rushed to the vet and needed emergency surgery for a bowel blockage (an intussusception, where the bowel telescopes).

<div>Luckily, we have a highly skilled vet surgeon, who managed to save Ebony's life. She had a whopping 47 cm (18 inches) of her bowel removed, in a difficult surgery.
</div>

<div>But these vet expenses will be high, especially for a small organisation like ours. Will you please consider helping us with Ebony's lifesaving operation?
