<div>On the morning of July 26, 2023, Deputy Charles “Chuck” Doze’ and two of his coworkers, Deputy Samantha Burkhead and Deputy Christopher Schroeder, arrived at an apartment complex in the city of Tualatin located in Washington County, Oregon to serve civil paperwork. Instead of being greeted by the occupant, they were greeted with gunfire.

<div>Deputy Doze’ was struck several times in his face, arms and chest. He sustained life-threatening and life-altering injuries. He was rescued as his co-workers returned fire and was rushed to a local trauma hospital. Deputy Doze’ is currently recovering in intensive care at a hospital in the Portland Metro area surrounded by his family, including his wife and children.

<p>Marcia had a subarachnoid hemorrhage Sunday, July 11th. She was life-flighted to Piedmont Atlanta for treatment. She is dealing with painful headaches, daily MRIs/CT scans, &amp; daily angiograms. Through all of this she is staying strong. Our goal is to help Marcia's family be able to stay close while she recovers for a maximum of 21 days. Please continue to keep Marcia &amp; her family in your prayers!

On Sunday April 16th 2017 heaven gained two beautiful souls. Natalie Nation and her two-year-old son Cole Nation were brutally murdered. They leave behind the parents/grandparents Doyle and Annie Nation and two brothers/uncles Nick and Chris Nation along with many other family members and close friends. They were loved by all and taken way too soon. We are asking for donations to help give Natalie and Cole the burial they deserve without putting any added burden on the Family. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers as they are going through the toughest thing they could ever possibly go through.<br /><br />Some of you may not know me. My name is Angel Wiley, I live in Buford and I am a long time friend of the Nations. Natalie & Cole Nation Funeral Fund

Please take a moment to meet our friend Millie Evans. You may know her as Millie Tankersley. An Oglethorpe County native, she graduated from OCHS in 1991. Then she immediately furthered her education at Athens Technical College, studying Surgical technology and Paramedicine. She became an Emergency Medical Technician in 1992 and went on to become a Paramedic in 1996. Millie joined our Madison County EMS family in 1995, where she still proudly serves our community. 21 years of helping others…..Now, she needs our help!<br /><br />At age 22, Millie was diagnosed with an Aortic Heart Murmur. Throughout the years, with a healthy lifestyle and medications, she has been able to control the disease. Unfortunately, the diseased valve has reached a critical stage requiring open heart surgery. Many of us have heard of valve replacement. Thank goodness for modern medical technology, because it has saved countless lives.<br />Surgery to replace an aortic valve is done for aortic valve stenosis and aortic regurgitation, both of which she suffers from. A less invasive procedure does exist, but, sadly, it will not work in her case. During the open- heart surgery, our friend will be placed on cardiopulmonary by-pass/ heart lung machine. A highly skilled and experienced Emory cardiologist will then replace her diseased valve with a mechanical one. She will then spend an undetermined amount of time in the hospital to insure she is strong enough to go home. Three months is the recommended at home recovery time. If all goes as perfectly planned, she will only miss three months of work. Only THREE MONTHS! Most of us panic if we miss one shift much less THREE months. Millie should then be able to function normally with a daily regimen of medications that insure the mechanical valve can function properly. The medical expenses will be tremendous! Although Millie does have medical insurance, it will not fully pay for the surgery. Nor will it pay for her mortgage, electricity or any other typical household bills. We would like to ease some of that burden. We need Millie back at 100%, so that she can continue to serve others as she has done for her entire life. Imagine in 21 years of public service, the many lives she has touched! Whether being the first line of treatment when someone is having a heart attack, crawling into a car to help an accident victim, delivering babies ( which she is notorious for) or the simple acts of kindness while comforting and holding the hand of a terminally ill patient. She willingly does all this because it is what she loves!<br /><br />First, I ask for your prayers. Prayers for the steady hands of the team of surgeons. Prayers for the nurses and all staff members involved in this delicate procedure.<br />Secondly, please consider donating. Please understand that Joyce is still hanging on but it is only a matter of hours or days as I am not God and only he knows but the time is near.<br /><br />I am a friend of the family and through love and compassion knows the family is having a very difficult time and need all the prayers, love, support and help they can possibly receive. I am asking for help in raising money for the funeral of Joyce Bray Mathews that is so near and trying to relieve  the family of some of their burden during a tragic time. The money will automatically go into an account controlled by Sabrina and Jennifer so that they will have immediate access when the time comes for funeral expenses.<br /><br />Joyce Bray Mathews went to the hospital 9 years ago to have a stint put in her heart. The doctors discovered at that time she had breast cancer.  The breast cancer was treated with chemo where she once again was living life and being a great mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren.  In 2014 The doctors informed the family the cancer had spread to her lungs and only gave her a year to live and she under went chemo drips. Joyce the fighter she is was bound and determined to prove the doctors wrong and she surpassed the year living life to her fullest. However, November 2015 the family was informed that the cancer had spread to the brain and Joyce immediately under went 10 radiation treatments in a row. The radiation took a toll on her but Joyce the fighter refused to let it slow her down and still continued to live life to fullest in the best way she could. On Monday December 28, 2015 the family was informed the cancer had spread to her bones.<br />On Friday December 18, 2015 was the last good day Joyce had but thankfully on that day she had all her children with her and was able to enjoy their visit. Sabrina, Kevin, Christa and Jennifer as well as many of her grandchildren were able to share some last memories with her as the mother and grandmother they know and love dearly. It was truly a beautiful blessing they all had the time together that day. <br />Joyce then began to decline rapidly but being the fighter she is her body just will not stop fighting but the inevitable is in the process as Joyce is in her final stage and will be going to meet the Lord soon and reunite with her Love Charles Mathews.<br /><br /> Unfortunately living the life of cancer is not cheap and Joyce has only a small amount of life insurance that in order for her to get the burial that such an amazing loving caring woman deserves the family needs help.  Many know that on top of dealing with Joyce in the process of dying a tragedy happened last night where Joyce lost a daughter and Sabrina, Kevin and Jennifer lost a sister to a tragic accident. This family has been given the ultimate test of all time and the last thing they need is to worry about expenses in a time where they can barely cope and process everything.  I ask that if you want to do something for the family this is the best thing you can possible do for them other than prayer.<br /><br />I speak on behalf of the family when I say they are grateful for the outpouring of love and appreciates everthing and love you all as well. <br /><br />I speak for myself and the family when I say every donation will be greatly appreciated as this is no time to worry about money and how to pay for their love one's funeral. <br /><br />No matter how small of a donation it all adds up!
