What JP cares about

I know how life-changing a prosthetic is - my personal goal to help others who can’t afford one. There is no greater gift than helping someone feel whole again.

I want you to meet a brave little boy named Jesús — only 5 years old — whose life changed in an instant. Jesús was at a birthday party, watching his friend hit a piñata. When the broomstick broke, the sharp end struck him directly in the eye. There was blood everywhere. The next thing Jesús remembers is waking up in the hospital, where doctors had to remove his eye to save his life. No child should have to experience that. My name is JP Labuschagne — some of you may know me as “OneEyeModel.” Why I’m Asking for Your Help As someone who has walked this exact path — who has lived through the stares, the self-doubt, and the long road to rebuilding confidence after losing an eye — I know how life-changing a prosthetic eye can be. This isn’t about vanity. It’s about dignity. It’s about confidence. It’s about allowing a child to grow up without feeling like he has to hide. That’s why I’m reaching out today — on Jesús’ behalf. Jesús — In His Own Words Hello, my name is Jesús Alejandro Díaz Urias. Today, I’m asking for your help to raise enough money for my ocular prosthesis. Even though my dad’s job provides medical insurance (IMSS), it does not cover the cost of my prosthetic eye or many of the surgery-related expenses. My parents are doing everything they can, but it has been very difficult. A little about me — I’m in my second year of kindergarten. I love pizza, singing, and playing soccer (it’s my favorite sport!). I also love spending time with my siblings, Bárbara and Roberto. When I grow up, I dream of becoming a firefighter, a doctor, or a teacher… or maybe even a superhero, if they let me. But first, I need to recover 100%. Any amount you can give will make a huge difference — helping me get back to normal days of playing, learning, and dreaming. You can be part of this miracle. How You Can Help We are hoping to raise $2,100, the amount quoted by a trusted ocularist I have personally been communicating with. I will be handling the donations directly and paying the ocularist myself, just as I have done for others in the past. Full transparency will be maintained, and updates will be shared throughout the process. Why This Matters This isn’t just about replacing what was lost. It’s about helping a brave young boy reclaim his confidence, his social life, and his future. I’ve been in Jesús’ shoes. I know the power of feeling seen again. If you’re able to donate — even $5 helps — it truly makes a difference. And if you can’t give right now, please consider sharing Jesús’ story. Every share brings us one step closer to giving him a new beginning. With gratitude, JP Labuschagne “OneEyeModel” Advocate for Ocular Prosthetics On behalf of Jesús Alejandro Díaz Urias
Hello everyone, My name is JP Labuschagne — some of you may know me as “Oneeyemodel.” Today, I’m reaching out with a heartfelt request on behalf of an inspiring young man from South Africa, named Shongeze, who urgently needs a prosthetic eye. As someone who has walked this path — who has felt the stares, the self-doubt, and the long journey toward confidence after losing an eye — I know how truly life-changing a prosthetic can be. It’s more than cosmetic. It’s dignity. It’s hope. It’s the chance to move forward without being defined by loss. Shongeze’s Story A few years ago, Shongeze’s life was shattered when he was the victim of a brutal attack. He was rushed to the hospital, but despite the doctors’ efforts, his eye could not be saved. Since then, he has faced more than just physical loss. He was let go from his job after the accident, and finding new work has been incredibly difficult. Too often, employers only see his missing eye instead of his skills, potential, and determination. For him, a prosthetic eye represents more than appearance. It’s a chance to restore his confidence, remove the stigma, and open doors to employment so that he can provide for himself and build a future. How You Can Help We are raising $500, the cost quoted by a trusted ocularist to create his prosthetic eye. I will personally manage the donations and pay the ocularist directly, ensuring full transparency and updates every step of the way. we will also be paying for his transportation and accommodation since he does not live near the Ocularist. Why This Matters This is not simply about replacing what was lost. It is about giving a young man the opportunity to rebuild his life, regain his dignity, and be seen for his abilities rather than his injury. I’ve been in Shongeze’s shoes. I know the difference a prosthetic eye can make. Please, if you’re able, consider donating — even $5 helps. And if you cannot donate, sharing his story is just as valuable. Together, we can help him move past this painful chapter and step into a brighter, more confident future. If we raise more funds than intended it will go to the foundation and we will help others gain prosthetic eyes as well. Thank You for your Donation changing a life one person at a time. With gratitude, JP Labuschagne “OneEyedModel” & Advocate for Ocular Prosthetics On behalf of Shongeze (South Africa)
