<div><strong>In the past three months our younger cat Mouth has had two trips to the emergency vet hospital, both for urethra blockages. A feline urethra blockage is a serious and potentially deadly medical emergency, but luckily if treated has an over 90% discharge rate. </strong>Unfortunately this issue is very common in male cats. Several factors can cause a blockage, the most often being bladder crystals. This was the case for Mouth's first blockage in April. We were not aware of this condition, and terrifyingly, it is always acute without any warning. Both our boy cats are like dogs and are always waiting at the door for us, Mouth usually meowing and chirping his precious head off. We came home to find him silent and hiding under the record player. When we went to touch him he let out the most horrendous and loud howl we've never heard from any other pet either of us have had. Mouth lived up to his namesake and his flare for drama saved his life. At the hospital his urethra was unblocked without difficulty, but because his kidney levels were abnormal he required 24 hour observation for several days to make sure his kidneys didn't fail and to make sure another blockage didn't occur. Mouth received extraordinary care from his vet team that saved his life, and we owe our whole hearts to them. Following this episode Mouth began a strict urinary health diet that we prayed would prevent another blockage from happening again. However, this past week, Mouth obstructed again. Fortunately we were home when the first, subtle warning sign occurred and we brought him in immediately. The good news was Mouth had not been obstructed long so the procedure went well and he was unblocked before his kidney levels ever elevated. Also, testing showed no signs of bladder crystals, bladder stones, kidney stones, or a UTI. This meant his diet has been working. Unfortunately, his testing showed elevated levels of white blood cells in his bladder. It was a blockage caused by "Sterile Inflammation" and is pointing to <strong>Feline Idiopathic Cystitis</strong>.

<div><strong>What can be done and why we are asking for your help?</strong>
</div>
<div>Feline Idiopathic Cystitis is a common condition and with proper management, cats can expect to enjoy a normal lifespan and the exact same quality of life as a healthy cat without the condition. Mouth is 4 years old (the average age of onset for FIC). Mouth is a young cat. Because these episodes are acute and the treatment only lasts 3-7 days, Mouth's quality of life outside of these episodes is excellent. If you know us and our cats well, especially if you've been to our home, you know that not only do we adore our boys, they adore us. We are incredibly lucky to have atypical felines who greet us at the door every time we come home, sit on our laps while we eat, lay on our heads while we sleep, sit on our feet while we pee, and follow us around everywhere we go in the house. Both cats, especially Mouth, are sweet, gentle, extremely affectionate, and completely emotionally imprinted onto Angie and I. Mouth is not a cat that simply decorates the furniture and only comes around for his meals. Mouth is not an elderly cat nor does he have any other minor or major health issues that would cause us to deliberate, for a second, euthanasia as a possibility for the sake of quality of life. Mouth's existence is all love and play and happiness. With your support and with management of this condition, Mouth will have a long and wonderful life.

<div>The amount of support Angie and I are graciously seeking has been reached with a lot of thought and inner turmoil. Both of Mouth's episodes occurred late at night after normal veterinary office hours so we were forced to bring him to a 24 hr emergency vet hospital. If you care for animals you know these facilities and their emergency services rack up nauseating bills. You may know that in the capital region there are only two 24 hr vet hospitals (1 in Queensbury, 1 in Latham) that could give a cat in Mouth's situation life-saving care in the middle of the night. The same is true for the area surrounding our home in Brooklyn. Vet hospitals like these are few and have a monopoly, so they charge predatory rates. Brooklyn is also obviously more expensive than the Capital Region which is why we're not asking for help covering 100% of the costs Angie and I have incurred. It's been our decision to live in NYC, and while no one is at fault for living where they would like to live, most of our community we're reaching out to for help lives Upstate. We care about keeping this huge and heartfelt request from the perspective of our support system. We were still recovering from the financial blow of Mouth's first episode when the second episode hit. It is crucial that while we do everything in our power to manage this FIC to prevent another blockage, we must also prepare for a possible third blockage and subsequent corrective surgery (Perineal Urethrostomy) at any moment. It could be next week, next month, or next year. There is no way for us to know if or when this outcome may occur. Mouth's episodes were exactly 3 months apart. Angie and I are having serious talks of relocating Mouth back Upstate with family where the worst case scenario (blockage and surgery) will be infinitely more affordable, should that be necessary.

<div>Angie and I feel absolutely sick reaching out for help during these horrendous economic times. As we begin to sell personal items and pick up overtime work, this request is a last resort. You may know Angie and I have some big life plans coming up next year. We are prepared to delay milestones, cancel much needed time off work, do anything for our boy. Mouth is simply too young, too healthy, and too happy to end his life because of money. We unapologetically refuse that option.

<div>Lastly, let us now encourage anyone reading this with male cats to PLEASE tell their vet to write them a prescription for a urinary health diet as a precaution. We have spoken to countless veterinary staff who have had all their male cats on a urinary prescription diet from day one as a preventative measure, because they've seen too many cats suffer. Again, urethra blockages are very common in males, and vets will happily write the prescription for you. Both our cats are now on this diet and it is only marginally more expensive. Please look into switching your male cat's diet as soon as possible.

The team is motivated to make this a special event for fans and introduce the sport to the next generation of the old school fans. Ron, Brian, Dave Back for More in 24 Tour

<font color="#333333">Hi to everyone that reads this I am trying to raise money for my brother who was in an unsettling car accident.<br />Early Friday morning, April 1st, Jared Duncan was in a serious car accident.  His vehicle was smashed into by another auto and rolled over multiple times. Jared was rushed to the emergency room at Dell Seton Medical Center in downtown Austin.  Unfortunately, his injuries were severe.  He broke his femur, two ribs, clavicle, and jaw in two places.  His lung collapsed and his liver was lacerated.  He was put on a ventilator and moved to intensive care.  That afternoon in surgery, he had a steel rod inserted in his right leg and a tube was inserted into his chest to facilitate any drainage issues.  Saturday morning, he had surgery on his broken jaw.  The broken bone was set in several places and his jaw was wired shut.  He was also taken off of the ventilator.  Throughout that first weekend, he experienced massive amounts of pain in his jaw and leg.  The pain medication has caused stomach issues which have unfortunately limited it’s effectiveness.  Sunday, the chest tube was pulled out, but there is a fear that because his broken ribs are preventing him from breathing deeply, pneumonia could creep in.  He has a long difficult road ahead.  Not only will he probably be in the hospital for at the least another week, he will need to begin rigorous physical therapy in order to walk again.  He’s facing months of difficult therapy and healing in order for him to be able to resume living his normal life.  He is also facing another potential surgery to further correct and mend his jaw.  He needs help with medical bills, but more importantly rent, groceries, automotive expenses, and other bills etc. while he heals.  Also, there may be some at home medical devices and equipment he will be required to purchase in order to facilitate his full recovery.  Jared Duncan has blessed the lives of so many people.  Not only is he an extremely caring and compassionate young man who continually and unselfishly helps others, his skills on a BMX bike are unparalleled and have delighted many people.  This man faces incredible odds returning to peak physical form let alone being able to do everyday physical tasks that most of us take for granted.  Consider donating to him and thereby becoming involved in his rehabilitative process which will in due time restore his health and ability to enjoy and experience life to the fullest.<br /></font>

<div>As many of you know, about a year and a half ago my little Luna Tunes was diagnosed with Myxomatous Valvular Degeneration Disease which had already progressed into congestive heart failure. Basically, her heart is enlarged and shredding itself, and her trachea is partially collapsed due to pressure.

<div>Her prognosis at the time was a year at best. My badass little lady has beat those odds and continues to thrive. I'm so grateful for every extra second I'm allowed with her in my life. Unfortunately, though, her ongoing medical care comes at a high cost.

<div>Luna is taking 10 pills a day. This requires constant monitoring and adjustments. She sees a canine cardiologist regularly, and specialist vet appointments are not cheap. Her medications make her quality of life very high still- which is pretty miraculous. She doesn't struggle to breathe and retains her spunky and snuggly personality. She's experienced very few ongoing side effects from them, aside from peeing frequently. Without her medication, though, she will crash very quickly and likely will not see 2023.

<div>On a very personal and vulnerable level- I had a traumatic brain injury this year which significantly impacted me financially for several reasons. I hate having to do this in general- and especially having to include this detail. But it's my reality still, and ultimately Luna's health outweighs my pride.

<div>The amount I set will cover her immediate medical needs and her 90-day supply of prescription refills. I'll be able to cover everything else for her moving forward from there.
</div>

<div>I know times are tough and money is limited. Even sending positive energy Luna's way is incredibly appreciated. She's already beaten so many odds- she's a spunky fighter subsisting on love.

<div>I won't be flooding your feeds sharing this- I only plan to post about it once. What I can promise is anything donated to my Luna Tuna the Lil Lunatic will be paid forward and then some. In any way that I can.

<div>The body that our friend, Rob, was born into gave out at 11:00 AM on December 3, 2022. It had always been problematic. However, the congenital heart defect that slowed him down in the physical world gave him a unique vision and new opportunities within emerging digital worlds.

<div>In 2006, he met his “real-life partner,” Tess Hannah, in Second Life in a vampire role-playing sim (#asonedoes). As early adopters, the pair saw the potential in these digital spaces and purchased and set up their own sim called Pulse.
</div>

<div>Everything they did solidified their connections to the metaverse and associated communities.
</div>

</div>
<div>Over the years, Rob became one of the most prominent thought leaders in VR, AR, Web3, XR, and, outside of that, an outspoken advocate for women and the LGBTQIA community. His innovative and curious mind helped bring the technologies he loved and ideas to execute them to places ranging from Ericsson, NASA, Meta, NBC, Lenovo, and countless startups. He took pride in his friendships to the best minds in tech. Cathy Hackl, Charlie Fink, and many more discussed the future with him and he loved those conversations more than they'll ever know.

<div>We will remember him as someone who moved the needle (or headset or mouse) for the technology he loved.

<div>A few years ago, Tess was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer, and Rob put much of his work on the back burner and became her caretaker. This year, Rob’s health took a turn, and Tess became the caretaker. During this period, neither of them had as much capacity to work and their finances suffered.

<div>Now, as Rob and Tess’s friends scramble to make sense of things, organize funeral arrangements, and pay bills, we would like to ask for a donation to help Tess. Funeral bills along with health-related bills have accumulated. At this time, December rent is paid, but the bills are piling up, and January rent is due. So we need to get her set up to be comfortable for some months as we figure out the next steps for her living situation and care.

<div>Gary has been a part of the Super Dark Collective family since the very beginning and plays an important role as the host of our Super Dark Home Video public access TV show/web series &amp; Super Dark Radio show/podcast. On top of that, he has played in countless bands over the years and is currently the singer/guitarist of Thinner Friends and his solo project turned band, Mr. Cancelled.

<div>Gary's cancer diagnosis came recently and sets up for a long and difficult 6 month path as he begins chemo treatments. Fortunately, it was discovered early and likely treatable, so we are all staying optimistic. The goal of the chemo is to shrink the mass located on a difficult part of the pancreas so that it is small enough to be removed. Unfortunately, Gary does not have health insurance coverage and has already amassed over $7k of medical debt before even starting these treatments. He is hopeful that he can get Medicaid to take care of some, hopefully most, of the expenses, but it’s a long and expensive road ahead. Gary needs to focus his energy and funds on fighting cancer instead of worrying about how he can keep up with bills, rent, and food. During his treatments, he will not be able to work, so much of the funds raised will help Gary maintain his basic needs of food, housing, and heat.

<div>A little about Gary:
</div>
<div>He was born in New York state, and his dad was in the Navy so his family moved around a lot. He spent numerous years in Norfolk, VA playing in a number of bands and was a prominent figure in their 80’s music scene. He was also included in the 2011 documentary, Hardcore Norfolk. In the 90’s, he relocated to NYC for about 5 years where he found himself surrounded by a community of musicians. He attended shows, frequented record stores, recorded music, and just enjoyed life. He played in a bunch of experimental projects including the pop duo, Capital Air. In the early 2000’s Gary made the decision to move to Upstate NY. He bounced around a bit until settling in Saratoga Springs where he has lived for the last 10 years as a productive songwriter/ musician, published photographer, and long time natural &amp; health food employee.

Our friend Gary needs support

On October 31st, Nicholas Cleves was killed in the terrorist attack on New York City. Those who knew him don't know how to reconcile this fact; it is unfathomable. The brightest light in Manhattan was put out. <br />Nicholas Cleves was, if you'd ever met him, easily the best person you had ever met. He was kind, goofy, stubborn, sweet, loving, genuine, charming, passionate, and unapologetically himself. He loved hard and he loved always. <br />In the aftermath of his death, his mother, Monica, his family, and his loved ones have struggled in ways that are unimaginable. Many people have asked how they can be of service to the family at this time, and this is one way to help. <br />Nicholas lived with his mother and helped her run the family business. As Monica is embarking upon a path far different than the one she and Nicholas were on, everyday life (and expenses) are a reality that she must address. <br />Although there is nothing that could help ease this pain, we hope to alleviate some of the smaller worries so the family can focus on their grief and healing. <br />Any donation, large or small, is much appreciated.

On January 29th, Anne rushed Mike to the ER at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany as he was doubled over in pain. They thought his gall bladder might need to be removed due to gall stones. Instead, he was diagnosed with Pancreatitis, and after many days of extreme pain and uncertainty, his health began to turn around. Though he was starting to feel better,  the surgical team at St Peter's (Dr's Heckman and Keim) said that his pancreas necrotized 80%, meaning it liquified itself. We were heartbroken to hear it, but still remain hopeful that the remaining 20% will continue to function, though there is no guarantee that will occur. Mike returned home on February 12th. <br /><br />Though his doctors are unsure what caused the issue, what we do know is that Mike has a very long road ahead. Every person's recovery is different, and though they can't tell us how his body will react over the next few weeks, he will likely undergo several procedures to help the healing process including intervention to help drain the area where the pancreas once was as well as possible gall bladder removal. The recovery process is also often rife with set backs, and was described  as a roller coaster ride. He will have good days, and bad days, and very likely more hospital stays. The doctors said to plan on Mike being sick until June at the very least. The remaining pancreas may necrotize again, and should that happen he will become a type I diabetic. The prognosis is daunting to say the least, but he is a strong and healthy man, and remains hopeful and positive. <br /><br />We are setting up this site because we know how much Mike has given to the community and are hopeful that the community can come together to support him and his family through this terrible time. Please give what you can.
