The Women's Quilt

£845 of £500 goal

Raised by 50 people in 1 month

The Women's Quilt was inspired by the 598 women who were killed by their partners or ex-partners between 2009 and 2015.

Our object is to raise awareness of domestic abuse and to commemorate those women. You can find our project group on Facebook- search 'The Women's Quilt '.

The project has inspired women and men throughout the UK to create patches with one of the women's names on it. UPDATE: All the names have been claimed and squares are being sewn and created for every woman on the list!   Please visit our facebook group to find out more.

We already have had invitations to display the quilt at venues across the country. We are looking to launch the quilt for International Women's Day at the House of Commons. Up to now this has all been done by volunteers and we have needed no funding.

We now seek funding to help pay for materials to back and finish the quilt, to pay launch expenses, particularly travel and to pay for postage and package when our quilt goes on it's travels. Any funding left over will be donated to Women's Aid. Thank you.

Great news everyone, all the names on the list have been claimed! This is going to happen! Many thanks to all the wonderful women and men who are sewing and making squares! If you still want to contribute to the project we still need a little financial help to finish, launch and pay for the quilt to go on it's travels to promote awareness of domestic abuse. Thanks to all our donors and future donors.

Dear friends, our funds have just gone over the £100, which is brilliant! The quilt is emerging as the squares are sent in and Roxie and volunteers start to piece it together. We are making a purchase of quilting tape to bind the edges out of your generous donations. Thank you all so much!

Would love to offer an opportunity to display the quilt and raise awareness. I am in Mold, North Wales. Might this be a possibility?

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this, especially those who have so thoughtfully memorialised women in their squares. It's been amazing to see this Labour of love.

Every quilt tells a story. This quilt powerfully tells the tragic stories of may women. Tip of the iceberg.
