On Tuesday, July 25, 2017, veteran Jacksonville K9 Officer and department Dive Team member Jeremy Mason was injured during a heroic effort responding to the attempted apprehension of a repeat violent bank robbery suspect. Well documented through the media, Officer Mason was shot in the face while attempting to apprehend the suspect and still managed to assist in the final disposition of the violent felon.

Officer Mason, a highly respected member of the local police department, is now attempting to recover from injuries that may have killed many of us and will likely have significant multiple reconstruction surgeries to repair the damage. The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5-30, in conjunction with members of his department, have established this fund to assist Officer Mason with medical expenses and any additional unforeseen expenses that arise from his extraordinary response protecting the Jacksonville community from this violent felon.

Please understand that this fund is currently being managed by fellow officer and close friend Chris Brown, on behalf of the FOP 5-30, who is acting as the beneficiary until the family can get through this initial emotional period and assume beneficiary status. Detective Brown will not benefit financially from this effort in anyway as all proceeds will be turned over to the Mason family. As soon as the family can assess their needs to the fullest potential and estimate the recovery costs, this account will be turned over to them and the funding estimate will be updated.

Should you decide to provide a donation directly to the FOP you may do so by sending a check or money order to:

Jacksonville, FL 32207

Thank you in advance for your support of our wounded Officer and Lodge member. We are very proud of him and eager to get him back to his family and to protecting the City of Jacksonville as soon as possible.

I want to thank all the donors for helping us meet our goal of $25,000.00, and beyond. I can tell you that you have brought financial comfort to the Mason Family so they can focus on getting Jeremy well. Just a little update on Jeremy, he had a few setbacks on Friday night, but has gotten better over the weekend. He has been out of bed several times, and is starting to get his strength back. At this time, I have suspended the abilities for anyone to make donations on this site since we have surpassed our goals. Should you feel inclined to give any future donations, please drop them off, or mail them to the following:

I would again like to thank the FOP Lodge 5-30, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Officers and Command, Jacksonville Fire/Rescue, and all of the fellow law enforcement community for their support. Let’s continue to keep the Mason Family in our thoughts and prayers and hope for a speedy recovery. Lastly, the Mason family has truly been overwhelmed by the love and generosity shown by our great community, and would like to thank each and every one of you.

I would like to give everyone a quick update. First, I would like to thank everyone for the gracious donations, and to show this family that they will never do this alone. These donations will give the Mason Family the peace of mind to not have to worry about any unforeseen financial burdens that may arise while this Great American Warrior heals his injuries. The family is overwhelmed with the outpouring of support from this city, and nation. A quick warrior update, Jeremy underwent surgery this morning to wire his jaw shut, to begin what will be a series of surgeries, to put his jaw back together. As of tonight, he is waking up from being heavily sedated since the day he was shot. He will continue to need the support of this community until we can reunite him with K-9 Echo, and the streets of Jacksonville. I would also like to thank the FOP Lodge 5-30, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Officers and Command, and all of the fellow law enforcement community for their support. Let’s continue to keep the Mason Family in our thoughts and prayers and hope for a speedy recovery.
