“Giving dignity to the needy by enabling them to raise funds themselves to pay for their needs.”

For those who pledged donations to Alasana`s Micro-JITIFA project and donated to Alasana`s campaign, I am happy to announce that Alasana`s project goals have been reached. I have sent the school the funds you donated and Alasana has now the dignity knowing he has paid in full his 2017 school fees. Alasana has written a concluding report of his project. His principal Mr Hydara has also submitted a report of Alasan`s progress. Both reports are found in Alasana`s Blog at https://alasanacamara.blogspot.ch/

Alasana`s first Micro-JITIFA project

My name is Andrew Vecsey and I can be reached at [email redacted]

I consider myself blessed to be able to use my energy and resources to help others who are in dire need of assistance.

My goal is to raise enough money to help Alasana Camara pay for his school fees.

Alasana Camara is 15 years old from a very poor family from Gambia, a very poor country. Alasana was born disabled. His father was a local farmer who died when Alasana was 5 years old. Alasana is now living with his elder brother. His younger brother is also disabled and his two sisters are living with their mother. Alasana`s ambition is to eventually attend university to specialize in Information Technology.

Alasana wants to go to school because he loves to learn and he knows that education is the only way that can help him in future, because he cannot work physically like others. He wishes to be able to go to The Yahaya Skill Center, a private school for the disabled, but his family is too poor to pay the required school expenses.

Best Regards
Ebrima Hydara, principal

After having gotten to know Alasana over the past month or so, and seeing his perseverence, his wanting to learn, his capability to learn and his social skills, I want to make full time educational access for him. It is my hope that he can eventually join with me one day to teach the other disable ones. That will help me and the school as well. When his school fees is completed am going to use it on his educational requirement. I need nothing from the money but to use it on his basic needs in education.

I want all my students to become something in the society, to be useful rather than sitting at home or begging on the street and at market places.

Best Regards
Ebrima Hydara

CHARACTER REFERENCE LETTER FOR ALASANA CAMARA

To whom it may concern

I am Bubacarr Drammeh, a teacher working under basic and secondary education in the Gambia. I first knew Alasana when I was going to the Gambia College in 2012.

Alasana is a physical challenge person who is hard working and his socialization is prefect. The only weakness he has is that he is not physically fit like normal people. He always tells me that his dream is to see all physical challenge people doing productive work to be able to take care of themselves. That one discussion with him made me cry.

He said he needed training in school to learn computer and other business skills . He said that he has been isolated in the society due to his physical challenge and he was hoping to learn so that he could put an end to the situation he is facing.

I can be contacted via my email [email redacted]

Kind Regards
Bubacarr Drammeh

PHOTOS OF THE SCHOOL ALASANA WISHES TO ATTEND

Class Room
We are working on some construction in the school because we are just a new school established last year. Our objective is to improve and to motivate young disabled students who are stuck at home without access to education.
The school gate under construction.

Alasana`s project is based on the Micro-JITIFA concept where people write and publish their projects and solicit help from their friends to donate and find donors from their own circle of friends. "Supporting friends to help friends help themselves with a few clicks of their mouse" is one of the mottos of Micro-JITIFA which is described in  http://microjustintimefinancialaid.blogspot.ch

Micro-JITIFA projects are written, published and managed by the initiators themselves. They are guided by a Micro-JITIFA Mentor, and I was honored to be Alasana`s mentor for his project. Initiators learn IT skills, writing and managing by publishing projects whether their projects succeed or not. Trust is acquired by starting small projects that are easily verified and by being transparent and maintaining contact via internet on a personal basis. Friends vouch for the initiators and promote their projects to their own circle of friends who then collaborate to help fund small projects by each donating small amounts. With time, enough friendship and trust is acquired to make subsequent projects easier to succeed.

Alasana`s Micro-JITIFA project is found at:
https://alasanacamara.blogspot.ch
There, you will find other details that you might find interesting, and as well you are able to ask Alasana questions and offer him feedback using the COMMENT facility of the Blog.

It should be noted that although Enlish is the official language of Gambia, English is not the mother tongue of the staff and the students of the school. They mostly use their own local language.

I feel blessed to be in the position to help Alasana. I can vouch for Alasana`s honesty as I have been in contact with him over a month period and have been also in contact with the school principal Mr Hydara who helped Alasana set up his email account.

Alasana`s determination, dedication and will power to survive and be a success despite his handicap astounds and inspires me on a daily basis and I hope that I can spread that to you all as well! I am certain that Alasana will be able to achieve his dreams of becoming a productive working adult if only given the chance.

I can vouch for Alasana`s honesty as I have been in contact with him over a month period helping him publish his Micro-JITIFA project  http://alasanacamara.blogspot.ch
where you can donate using Bitcoins or PayPal to his project.

Kind regards,
Andrew Vecsey

Please help spread the word!

For the German speaking people who are interested in helping Alasana:
