Hi, my name is Shaun Boehner, Im trying to fundraise to cover family expenses, and lessen the financial strain during Yvonne's Recovery
If you don't know me and my family, it consists of myself, 2 daughters, Rylie 12, and Alexa 17, who will be attending Acadia in the fall, and Most importantly, at this time Yvonne.
Yvonne has been employed with Shoreham Village Nursing Home in Chester, NS for 15 years as a cook. She is well loved by all.
Prior to what I am going to tell you, Yvonne was in excellent health.
It tears me apart having to relive the next few weeks of what took place with Yvonne.
It was like any other morning On July 4th, Yvonne was working an early morning shift at Shore Ham, it ALL took a terrifying turn at 9:30am. Yvonne took a massive seizure. She suffered dental damage, lesions to her tounge, and numerous bumps and bruises all over her body.
EHS transported her to South Shore Regional, where she waited on a bench for 7 hours before she seen a doctor, they sent to her for a CT. The results were devastating.
It showed a 4.5cmx3.5cmx3cm mass inside the left frontal lobe of her brain. She was rushed to Valley Regional for a MRI to confirmed the worst. She was sent home with a suit case of pills, steroids to reduce swelling, anti- seizure medication to prevent anymore seizures while we wait for a call from the Neuro Surgeon in Halifax. It seemed like time dragged on while we waited. July 11th, Yvonne got her consultation appointment at the VG. We met with the surgeon, they discussed orginally to send Yvonne home for 4 weeks, that would give time for blood to recess so they could determine what they were looking at.
I spoke up for her, her condition over the last few days was really worsening, they decided to admit her for a few days to monitor her. We are so grateful they admitted her because things really turned for the worst for Yvonne.
July 13th she was in terrible pain in her head, very confused, but the doctors said she was ok, I knew she wasn't okay.
July 14th her condition was worsening, she been throwing up for hours. Yvonne suffered another seizure. The doctors assured me she would be fine, I knew she was not. Something told me to check on Yvonne at 11:00pm. I could get no response from her, I checked her pupils, they were blown and unresponsive. I screamed for the nurses which seemed like it took 10 mins for them to get there.
It looked so very bad, they rushed her to CT, found a new large bleed.
Yvonne was rushed to emergency brain surgery at 1:00am July 15th.
Yvonne's surgery was successful, but there were so many unknowns.
The surgeons said she may never speak again, she may have difficulty with memory, and her vision, as that is the area affected.
The results came back from Yvonne's mass and its called a Cavernous Malformation. Only 0.023 % of people ever experience this. Yvonne is doing well post surgery with some trouble with speech and putting things together. Her vision is giving her troubles, but confident she will overcome this. She is so strong,

I spent every moment with her over the last few weeks, holding her hand, dabbing her down with cool clothes. I did things I never thought I could, she is my soul mate.

I Hope everyone that sees this, take a look at life and realize your world can be torn apart at the snap of a finger.

Thank you all for taking the time to
