When Gender Dies: The Birth of the First Person is a UV-reactive, immersive art installation and fairytale about the first ungendered person.

This project combines images of a human life cycle with fluorescent paint and mixed media to tell a story about the death of the god Gender, and the birth of the first person to defy Gender's rules. Viewers are invited to respond to the question: What will you do when Gender dies?

A small version of the project will debut at the Vision Sanctuary in July 2026.

An expanded version will exhibit at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History in June 2027.

This project expands upon the themes I created for my first installation, "Is Gender Working for You?" which also appeared at the MAH and various galleries in Santa Cruz.
