My name is Johnie Potts. I'm 62 years old, and I got laid off from my job as a quality inspector in February. I wasn't too worried at first, because I've been laid off before and I could usually land a new job in a couple of months. Not this time. I've been searching since February, gone to dozens of interviews, but nobody calls back.

Now I'm almost out of money, and I'm going to lose everything I've worked 40 years for. I tried getting Social Security and disability, but Social Security won't start paying until Halloween week and there's an average six-month wait before I can get disability. I'm desperate. Any help you can give would be deeply appreciated.
