Support Luca’s El Salvador Service Trip

Hello, my name is Luca Linsenmeyer and I am a senior at Mount Saint Joseph High School. Throughout my time in high school, I have been exposed to many service opportunities, including my Junior Service Project and Ryken Service Club. In these situations, I was taught just how important service was, especially to the poor and marginalized. To go on this trip to El Salvador would not only be an amazing experience for me and my classmates, but will be mean even more to the community we are serving.

Building Futures Project is committed to improving housing and educational facilities in El Salvador. This experience immerses volunteers in Salvadoran culture and community. Participants spend five days working in villages like Las Delicias or Ciudad Arce, contributing to construction projects, serving lunch, assisting at a local daycare, and visiting families. Outside of these work hours, there are opportunities to explore landmarks, such as El Boquerón Volcano, and to enjoy authentic Salvadoran meals.

In between the work days, volunteers have a “culture day.” This break features visits to historic sites in San Salvador, including the home of Saint Oscar Romero, and a chance to shop for handmade goods while supporting local artisans. Volunteers leave not only with new cross-border relationships and cultural experiences but also with a strong sense of community among one another. Communal living quarters overlooking Lago de Coatepeque provide a space to eat, pray, and reflect together daily.

Money will go to the Buildings Future Project and toward flight and travel expenses. Thank you in advance for all of your generosity!
