Leo's Eye Removal Surgery
Donation protected
Good Evening! My name is Debbie Curtis and I am starting this fundraiser in hopes to ease my daughter's current financial burden.
This is for my granddog Leo or as I call him "squeakers". He is an almost 5-year-old chihuahua mix. Early on in Leo's life, he developed Keratoconjunctivitis in his left eye along with inverted eyelashes. Keratoconjustictivitis causes extreme dry eye, green discharge and the inverted eyelashes scratch the cornea.
The first specialist she took him to unfortunately prescribed a steroid (Terramycin) that worsened his condition. This medicine left a permanent film over his eye. Thankfully he still had vision in his left eye and my daughter and her fiance were hopeful with daily care and medication (hundreds spent) they could prolong eye removal surgery, which was most recently deemed necessary, by yet another veterinarian for his quality of life.
Leo is an amazing little boy. He loves cuddling with his toy Santa and he is obsessed with blankets! Leo loves running around and around in circles and he is even more happy when you cheer him on.
On August 5th, 2023, Leo has his left eye removed so that no further discomfort would be caused. As much as I and his mommies love him, the financial strain came right after my daughter's car broke down and would be over $2,000 to fix. Leo's eye surgery and all required medicine came to $3050. Our animals become our family and we would do anything for them, which they did, now amounting to massive credit card debt.
We understand that in the world of inflation, everyone is struggling in some manner. Even if you are unable to donate, kind wishes and prayers are appreciated for our little Leo. He came out of surgery yesterday and so far he is doing amazing!
Thank you all so much for taking the time to read Leo's surgical journey and updates will be made as he progresses!
Debbie
