Help Macy with her recovery

Update:
Our sweet Macy girl is HOME! ♥️

After many X-rays, bloodwork, neurology exams, 3 days in the ICU, and an MRI, we have found out what happened to our sweet girl.

She suffered from a Fibrocartilaginous Embolism (FCE), which is also known as a spinal stroke. It occurs when a piece of the dogs spinal disc breaks or shifts and blocks blood flow to the spinal cord. There is no cure or “fix” for this. At the time of her injury she was completely paralyzed in her back end. As of today, she has shown some feeling in both legs and we did witness her move her tail. She has to be held up in a harness and cannot stand or walk. We did watch her poop on her own with us holding her but we do not know if she can pee yet so we will have to manually help her pee until she gains that sensation back. With spinal cord injuries everything is unknown and is a case to case scenario but the vet is hopeful that since she came in completely paralyzed and now has shown feeling and function in her legs that she will eventually be able to stand and walk again. Her spinal cord is very inflamed from the injury and time is the only thing that will help that go down, which will then help her motor function. We will have to do physical therapy with her 5 times a day but they say the most improvement happens in the first 14 days. On the evening of her injury she did suffer from a seizure so her neurologist did an MRI of her brain as well to look for tumors and she is perfect! They also checked her chest for cancer and there are zero signs! They believe her seizure was due to the medication they put her on from sedation. They told us that this was a freak accident and there was no underlying cause that would have done this, and would most likely never happen again. It’s apparently most common in large breed dogs.

We absolutely CANNOT thank everyone enough for everything that has been done for us. The prayers, the donations, the sharing of our go fund me link… everything means SO MUCH to us. Macy does not need surgery but we still have had to pay $9,500 so far with more bills in the future so everything everyone has done is so unbelievably appreciated.

We have a very unknown, long road ahead of us. We ask for more prayers that Macy’s spinal cord heals and she will one day be able to be independent and walk again. She is a fighter, so we are going to fight alongside her. ♥️

Our sweet girl Macy May had an accident while outside, she was just let out and only in the yard for about 10 seconds before I heard screaming from her. We don’t know what happened but she lost mobility in her back legs. We don’t know what her future is yet. We have spent thousands of dollars already just to diagnose the problem, and we’re being told from the vets her surgery to save her life and give her a happy and healthy life is 12,000-15,000 dollars. Please help us with anything to save her.
