Treston Cook Medical & Travel Expenses

Treston is a senior at Meade High School. The day after Thanksgiving, he had a fall while helping some family members move a couch. This fall resulted in an ambulance ride to Wichita where he would have surgery to repair his broken femur. Once they arrived at Wichita, they began several tests and scans to study why the bone was weak enough to break under a circumstance with no severe trauma. The results showed that bone strength was compromised due to a bone tumor at the spot of the break. This discovery halted the surgery (to repair the femur) in order to have a bone biopsy completed.

The waiting game began. While waiting for test results, Treston stayed in the hospital in order to receive physical therapy and to begin to learn how to maneuver while still having a broken femur. Results came back on December 10th that confirmed that Treston has a cancerous osteosarcoma in his bone.

A treatment plan has been put in place and is underway. Treston had a port placed and has begun chemo. He will need to undergo six rounds of chemo (each round lasts five weeks); there will be a pause between rounds 2 and 3 of chemo in order to repair the broken femur. It will be a long process but he is prepared and ready to fight this battle with God on his side.
