Tom and Ironman - The Last Chapter

After a near twenty year brave battle with cancer, we lost our Dad at the end of 2019. He has been an inspiration as he fought back from serious bouts in 2001 and 2011 when the diagnosis both times looked very bleak. Although he seemed invincible to me, the 3rd battle was one too many.

 

I wanted to do a fundraiser in 2020 but plans had to change as it did for everyone. So, in 2022 I am training to do Ironman Austria Triathlon in July. This will mean a 2.4 mile swim in a lake, 112 mile bike ride in the hills and then finish with the 26.2 mile marathon run. I have done Ironman before to raise funds for cancer charities so wanted to do one more in honour of my Dad before hanging up my long distance triathlon goggles, bike shoes and run shoes.

 

I have decided to raise money for Blood Cancer UK which is a specialist blood cancer charity. They fund world-class research and offer expert information and support to anyone affected by leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other blood cancer related disorders. Please help them beat blood cancer.
