Chico's life saving surgery
Tax deductible
Chico is the sweetest chihuahua you will ever meet! He is 10 years young a perfect package of 10lbs...Chico found his way to The Canine Collective a little under 2 weeks ago due to his family needing to re-home him because they just had a baby. Shortly after we took Chico into our care his personality began to change, Chico was still eating and drinking but not much intrest otherwise...at first we just thought he was heartbroken due to loosing the only home he ever knew. When Chico showed no intrest in food one day and his gums appeared pale he was taken to the emergency vet right away where he was deemed anemic with a low red cell count. He was given a blood transfusion and an ultrasound revealed a tumor in his stomach. We have since had the tumor removed and surgery went as expected. He has also been found to have a blood disease called IMHA that is consistent with a malignant tumor, we will know more about what that may entail once biopsy results are back. For now Chico is resting comfortably at the vet, they have also found Chico has a heart Murmur which complicates his recovery a bit. At this point we are waiting to see how Chico responds to meds. So far, so good! we have spent over 5,200 to save Chicos life, our priority is ALWAYS the welfair of our pups! However we are a small private rescue and we rely on the support of our community to help these pups in need! We do understand times are tough right now for many and not everyone can donate, if you are able to please remember no amount is too small!!! Thank you in advance for helping us help sweet Chico!
