Canine collective is in the process of trying to help a previous adopter!

A wonderful family adopted these two sisters( Venus and Serena) a couple months ago as they were a bonded pair. The family did not hesitate to take both sisters home!

After a short time Of being with their new family They were discovered to have some lingering parasites That needed to be treated, no big deal as this is a very common thing... however with Serena, she started declining having loose stool and becoming lethargic... without hesitation she was rushed to the vet! it was found that her intestines were twisted and she needed a surgery to fix the internal problem! Serena had surgery and is doing great now! The surgery was pretty costly but again the family did not hesitate to do all they could for their love of the girls! Here we are a few weeks later and now Venus has started coming down with the same type of symptoms, it's been discovered that a foreign body is in her intestines and she too needed surgery! She is an intensive care and needs to go to the ER tonight to be monitored, you can only imagine after the first surgery the family was financially strapped so now looking at Venus costing another unexpected expense they reached out to the Canine Collective for help, We are going to do all that we can on our end but we are reaching out to our supporting Community for help! I am Kayla McDonald, and I am the Kennel Manager of the Canine Collective, a no-kill, all-breed dog rescue in Plain City, Ohio. As I'm sure many of you are aware, we take in dogs from all over the place that are in dire need of help. A large portion of the dogs we take in are from high-kill shelters in surrounding areas. Kentucky is a state that we help out quite frequently, as they do not have the resources as readily available to them, and the stray population is outrageous. As we all know, taking in puppies is always a risk no matter how you look at it. They usually come from bad situations where they're not being well cared for and are at risk for many diseases and parasites. Parvovirus is one of the worst, in my opinion. There is not a cure for parvovirus; you can only treat the symptoms and hope that your puppy is strong enough to push through. It is also highly, highly contagious! Unfortunately, we have been hit with another case of parvovirus with a litter of puppies we just brought in today. We had a previous case about 2 weeks ago. We got extremely lucky; there was a litter of 10 puppies altogether. Canine Collective received four, and somehow, some way, none of the other pups came down with parvo except for one! Today, we received a litter of nine puppies, and within a few hours of having them, the foster already needed to take one to the emergency vet, and within moments, it tested positive for parvo! This puppy is at Veterinary Emergency Group being hospitalized, and we're going to keep a close eye on the other eight. Realistically, we know the chances of another coming down with it are very high. They do, however, have a newer treatment for parvo, an injection you can try with a very high survival rate. However, the injection is also very costly. We are trying to be proactive and raise money to prepare for treating the rest of these puppies. If you are at all able to help us, every little bit counts! We are in dire need of funds to help these puppies out and hope for their survival! Parvo treatment, depending on where you go, ranges somewhere in the thousands. Most puppies need to be hospitalized for at least 72 hours in most cases. Thank you so much for your continued support!

Sweet Girl Millie had four Puppies who just hit 3 months old. Sadly three of the four have tested positive for Parvo and are currently undergoing treatment. Parvo is a highly contagious virus that can affect all dogs but puppies under 4 months are the most at risk. This infection can be deadly and treatment is costly. The puppies are currently being treated and we are hoping for a full recovery but the first 48 - 72 hours are the most critical. Any donations are greatly appreciated and will be put directly into their medical treatment.

In the last few months The Canine Collective has had a LARGE influx of medical case dogs. We have had to put 7 puppies through parvo treatment in the last 3 weeks alone, All pups are now healthy and thriving! We have a terrier who had to have his leg amputated due to old injuries he sustained in the hoarding situation he was rescued from...he is now in a wonderful foster home recovering! A dachshund that had been bred so many times with no vet care that has 6 mammory tumors that are being removed slowly (it would.be too hard on her to remove them all at once) a very sweet shepherd mix presently going through heartworm treatment after coming in with a fractured pelvis from being hit by a car! And last but certainly not least sweet Haus also a little terrier who has GIANT tumors on him, he has 4 very large masses, he went to the vet today to see how deep they go and what form of cancer he has. After we know more info. We will come up with a treatment plan for him (surgery,chemo,etc.) 

As im sure you can imagine these vet bills are stacking up quickly,! they range anywhere from 1,000-3,000 per dog depending on their individual needs. None of this is including the normal vaccines,microchip, spay/neuter, and heartworm tests we do routinely. So please donate if you can. No amount.is too small! Hi there! Recently our rescue was asked to help take in some dogs from a southern Ohio hoarding case. These dogs and pups came to us in rough shape and we need to get them evaluated by our vet and get them on the road to recovery. We took 3 female adult dogs and 4 puppies that need vetted and stayed/neutered. They also need to put on some much needed weight as the 3 adult dogs are skin and bones. If you feel led to help these babies, please do so. Any amount and all shares will help to get these pups healthy and eventually to their forever homes.
