From normalcy to devastation in just 9 days.
They didn't know it at the time, but the week of Thanksgiving would mark the beginning of a tragic journey that would bring devastation to the Shoemaker family.
The Monday before Thanksgiving, Deanna and Jeremy Shoemaker began experiencing some symptoms of COVID-19. They were both tested on Tuesday; results were negative. Deanna's symptoms continued to worsen and she tested positive 2 days later.
By Saturday, the symptoms had worsened to the point where she went to the Emergency Room. She was sent home with medications that would hopefully help. They didn't.
On 12/1, just 9 days after becoming symptomatic, Deanna was back in the ER and the next day she was placed on a ventilator, where she's been ever since.
My name is Brant Moriarity. I grew up in Huntington, IN and considered Jeremy one of my very best friends during my high school years. While we have grown apart since that time, I have nothing but the utmost respect, admiration, and love for him and his family.
For those who don't know the Shoemakers that well, they still have 1 son in high school, Jeremy has been working so hard to get the Erie Tavern up and running, and they don't have any income coming in right now.
Please consider giving anything you can spare to help him, his family, her family, etc. to get through this trying time.
