The Dead Parent Club is the accessible friend for every young person who has prematurely lost a parent/s. Up to 7% of UK children will lose a parent before age 16 and yet there are limited relatable resources available to them.
Losing a parent is an incredibly heartbreaking and isolating experience, particularly when those you would lean on and your social circle don’t feel comfortable speaking about it.
So, who do you turn to when you need to feel understood and less alone in your grief? The DPC is a community of likeminded young adults who are all grieving a similar loss. The podcast is a safe space for them to listen and share their own experiences.
The Dead Parent Club podcast was created to comfort people who are experiencing the loss of someone who is, most commonly, the most important person in your life. It is a community of people who have come together to share their stories and to laugh and cry about the situations they’ve found themselves in. Together they’ve come to realise that they are not alone in their grief.
I run this podcast in my spare time outside of my full-time job. For the first 1.5 years, I funded it solely out of my own pocket but unfortunately reached a point where I could no longer afford to run it. Hesitantly, I set up a GoFundMe page at the beginning of 2020 and received an amazing response and raised enough money to keep the podcast running for another year.
However, I'm now at a point again where I need to think about its future.
I am blessed to know that this has been such a huge support for so many people. And I would love to keep it running for as long as I can. Any support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
