Hello, my name is Roger Calvert. I'm from Cullman, Alabama, and I'm 44. For the last few years, I have had two hernias that I couldn’t take care of because of not having insurance. But on July 9, I coughed and felt something pop and was rushed to the ER in really bad pain. They rushed me to the back and started doing tests, and then came back to tell me that my hernia was cutting blood flow to my intestines and didn’t know if they would have to remove any of my intestines. They rushed me into surgery. When I came out of surgery, they told me they were able to get blood flowing back to my intestines and didn’t have to remove any. Then they told me I had four hernias, not the two I thought I had. Because of the four hernias, I was too swollen for them to put in mesh, so I will need another surgery for the mesh to be put in. Without the mesh surgery, I am at high risk of them coming back. With no insurance, that’s why I’m here asking for help to help me with the medical bills and to get the mesh surgery.
