Support Rex's Fight Against Sepsis
Donation protected
This is Rex. He is 204 pounds and a 5 year old Great Dane. He is truly the sweetest boy ever. Before his accident, Rex was perfectly healthy.
Rex ate a cooked lamb chop bone that was given to him without knowing how damaging it would be. The bone shattered into small pieces. It got stuck in his colon and produced bacteria that soon became toxic. The toxins traveled to the rest of his system. He went into surgery to remove as much bone as they could, but it was too late. The toxins traveled quickly. The bacteria and toxins led to sepsis, an infection in his bloodstream that triggers an inflammatory response. Rex is very weak right now. He won’t eat and he can barely walk. He has already been through surgery, two X-rays, and a plasma transfusion, on top of the countless medications and a feeding tube. He is getting better very slowly over these past 2 days, but he’s still in critical condition. We need support to keep Rex at the vet for a couple more days so he can get better and come home. Vet bills are expensive, and we want our dog back. Any support is greatly appreciated!
