As many may have seen, there was a fire at Willow Creek Apartments this week. My cousin Jodi lived in that building and was in the apartment connected to where the fire started. A little after 2 a.m., she woke up to a noise and the smell of something burning. By the time she made it to her front door, the fire had spread out of the neighboring unit and was coming toward their door. While she and her two sons were able to make it out, the apartment was a total loss. They made it downstairs with nothing but the clothes on their backs and burns from having to run through the fire.

While having to start over is unimaginable, Jodi has said many times that she is so thankful she was able to wake up and get her boys out. She has been strong for her boys, and now I hope I can help her get settled and feel safe again.
