Support Jim after his Life Changing Crash

Monday, January 22nd started out like any other workday for Jimmy Carreon. That day he was headed to Utah with a small tanker filled with anhydrous ammonia. This wasn't new to him, he has driven semi-trucks for about 28 years now. Working for various companies over the years, Jim has always taken pride in winning safety award after safety award. He is good at what he does and enjoys his job more than most people. On that peaceful morning with the sun behind him just starting to rise, Jim was about halfway between Rawlins and Laramie Wyoming when the unthinkable happened. There was a loud noise, his first thought was a blown-out tire and even now investigators are still trying to determine what exactly went wrong with the vehicle to cause this accident. His truck was put into a spin and at the same time started rolling down into a little ravine near the highway. Inside the truck the dashcam footage shows those terrifying moments of Jim yelling what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck, not yet knowing that his life is changing forever. When the incredibly loud metal screeching noises stopped and the truck settled to a halt, Jim was hanging in his seat unable to unbuckle himself and in the most excruciating pain he had ever experienced. He hung there for quite a few minutes, unsure if he was going to be able to make it out of this alive. He smelled the ammonia that had started leaking from the tanker and instinct must have kicked in. He cut his seatbelt off (in what state troopers describe as one of the best cuts they had ever seen), and with multiple broken ribs, a collapsed lung and blood covering his body, he crawled as far as he could away from the tanker. When he was unable to continue, he buried his face in the snow in a somewhat successful attempt to filter the 99% pure ammonia from entering his lungs. I can only imagine what the EMS team and state troopers saw as first responders. A visible cloud of chemicals was surrounding the truck and there was no way to get to Jim without endangering themselves. We have heard that two volunteer firemen were finally able to get to Jim and pull him out of the crash site. When Danika visited the crash site, she could still see the footsteps those brave men took getting down to Jim and moving him away from the toxic chemicals that could have easily taken his and their lives. From there he was driven by ambulance to a nearby local hospital and with no way to ascertain how much damage his lungs and his body had endured, the decision was made to intubate and place Jim into a medical coma. He was rushed onto a flight for life helicopter to Anschutz hospital where he started his healing journey. Jim will definitely not be working in the near future. And the last thing he needs to worry about is next month's bills and how he is going to financially recover when and if he can return to driving. If you are on this page, you already know Jim, he is an amazing man and if you ask him for help, he is there. You never expect to leave for work in the morning and not return back that evening. By some miracle, Jim made it through that accident and will be able to return home. Please, let's all come together and help him financially so that his recovery can have one less stress.
