Support Jeffers Chapel's Restoration After Accident

Jeffers Chapel was established in 1894 by the Bratcher, Jeffers, Demby, Hynson , Wiggins and other Families. The church and the surrounding grounds are still lovely, cared for and maintained by descendants of the original founding families. Our church was in continuous operation for more than 125 years opening for our Annual Homecoming until the Covid Pandemic of 2020. The church was originally affiliated with the United Methodist denomination but closed for regular service due to low membership. In July of 1995 the church was incorporated as a non-denominational house of worship.

On Wed. September 3rd, 2025 a Talkie Cable Truck towing a trailer was hit by a van who failed to stop at the intersection of Rt. 300 and 290. The impact of the van sent the truck and attached trailer airborne and the truck was thrown into the side of the chapel causing extensive damage. Thanks to the care and consideration of multiple fire and rescue teams under the direction of the Sudlersville Volunteer Fire Dept, the church was able to be stabilized so the truck could be removed without causing the entire structure to collapse.

We are confident that our little chapel can be restored and we welcome prayers and monetary donations to ensure we are able to reopen for our Annual Homecoming in the near future.
