What's up everyone? My name is Edith, and I am one of 15,000 nurses who is currently on strike, as Mount Sinai, NY-Presbyterian, and Montefiore have not come to an agreement with NYSNA on a fair contract.
Since October 2025, NYSNA has tried to negotiate with the aforementioned hospitals to preserve safe staffing ratios, protect our health insurance coverage, fair wages, and improved protections from workplace violence. However, administrators have refused to honor our demands; therefore, we had to make the difficult decision to go on strike starting on January 12th, 2026.
As of today, we are on Day 16 of the NYSNA strike, and I am personally feeling the financial pressure due to the reduced income and lack of health insurance. Although my fiancé is still able to work as an MTA conductor, the high cost of living in NYC is too high to be able to live on a single income, especially with three young children and two cats. This is why I am asking for additional financial help. Any donations that you are able to provide can help with paying rent, utilities, doctor's appointments, medications, groceries, and any emergent expenses.
Your help would be greatly appreciated. If you are not able to help financially, please share with as many people as you possibly can.
