Sunny Oak Equine Assisted Activities Horses

Tax deductible
Hi Everyone! Thank you for supporting our equine partners who help make up the heart of Sunny Oak Equine Assisted Activities.

Our horses and ponies could use a little bit of assistance with the cost of such things such as, but not limited to, general operations of the farm and program, routine vet checks and vaccinations, farrier appointments, dental work, along with a little rainy day fund for when a medical emergency arises.

This winter hasn’t been the kindest to us. With the weather flip flopping from one extreme to the other our horses and ponies have struggled a bit. Weather changes are known to cause issues such as colic which can range anywhere from a mild tummy ache to severe gut twisting, gas not passing, or impaction, and can become a life or death situation. It’s never a good feeling seeing your equine friend uncomfortable and in pain. We are thankful for our veterinary team who are quick to assist!

Tinker
Tinker is one of our smaller ponies and is a favorite for many of our younger riders. He also has a bit of a stinker side which many a camp kid learning to ride independently can tell you all about. Overall, he’s a sweet guy and his best buddy is Cody! During the time when temperatures were in the negatives our beloved Tinker fell ill and required the vets to come out to the farm! Braving the bitter cold for many hours, the vets and a couple of our volunteers had helped save Tinker's life! He was touch and go for a while there, but we are all so happy he pulled through!

Petey
Sweety Petey! Petey the Wonder Pony! Peter Pan! This pony’s nicknames are as infinite as his talent! Super jumper in his younger years to one of the most sound and secure therapy ponies around. He was the whole package and then some while being Rosy’s go-to mount and partner in crime! Favorited by our littlest riders he would take the best care of them all the while giving everyone the side eye. Kind and forgiving as big as his spots can be seen! A couple weeks after Tinker’s vet visit, Petey required the vets to come out and help him. Only his illness was more intense which prompted taking him to the veterinary hospital. Petey underwent colic surgery but sadly did not pull through. Too much damage had been done and the kindest thing was to let him cross over the rainbow bridge instead of suffering. Our hearts are gutted with his passing.

Tinker and Petey’s vet bills would fall under that little rainy day fund for a medical emergency.
