Summer at The Hidden Cafe 2022

Tax deductible

Hi Bay Area!

We are back here again for the 2nd year of Summer at The Hidden Cafe summer concert series, benefitting Asian Pacific Environmental Network (APEN). This year it will be taking place on August 5-7th (which is Friday through Sunday) with live music, dance, and art. If you were here last year and loved it, please consider donating!

When:
Friday Night Ball: August 5th, 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Afternoon Concerts: August 6th and 7th, 2pm – 5pm

Where:
Strawberry Creek Park (1250 Addison Street, Berkeley, CA 94702)
Free parking available in the BUSD West Campus lot on Browning Street

Please help us support our local Asian immigrant communities! Our goal is to be able to pay for equipment costs such as tents, piano, etc., and also to fairly compensate our musicians/staff (they were volunteering last year). All of these costs go directly into making these concerts more enjoyable for you, the audience!

Donations to this GoFundMe (through our fiscal sponsor, Local Artists Berkeley ) are 501(c)(3) tax exempt! All proceeds will directly benefit APEN.

What is Summer at The Hidden Cafe?
Summer at The Hidden Cafe hosts multiple performances in a shared, public space to allow everyone to listen to a variety of music from diverse and unique cultures. We are a three-day music and arts event dedicated to elevating the historic music of all cultures and destigmatizing Western classical music.  Funds raised during the event will be donated to the Asian Pacific Environmental Network (APEN), a local non-profit that raises awareness for social justice for Asian Americans and environmental justice.

Summer at The Hidden Cafe began with the idea of bringing unfamiliar music from young musicians to new audiences. Our mission is to elevate historic music and art of all cultures, to make quality, live performances accessible for all, and to give back to our community that we share.

Summer at The Hidden Cafe will take place from August 5-7th, 2022, in front of The Hidden Cafe at Strawberry Creek Park. Our Friday Night Ball features dance, intimate live music, and a small auction of local artists. Our Saturday and Sunday afternoon concerts feature pop, jazz, traditional music, and classical programming. Food and drink will be provided by The Hidden Cafe and their featured local eateries.

What is APEN?
“All people have a right to a clean and healthy environment in which their communities can live, work, learn, play and thrive. Towards this vision, APEN brings together a collective voice to develop an alternative agenda for environmental, social and economic justice.

Through building an organized movement, we strive to bring fundamental changes to economic and social institutions that will prioritize public good over profits and promote the right of every person to a decent, safe, affordable quality of life, and the right to participate in decisions affecting our lives. APEN holds this vision of environmental justice for all people. Our work focuses on Asian immigrant and refugee communities.”

What is Local Artists Berkeley?
Local Artists Berkeley is a California non-profit organization which seeks to provide public access to artwork through public exhibition and display for educational, informational, and cultural purposes. LAB encourages the artistic and cultural interests of the community by providing a showcase for art created by local and greater Bay Area artists.  In furtherance of these goals, LAB acts as a consultant and project manager for the selection and installation of artwork for temporary display in behalf of public and private entities.

Local Artists Berkeley (LAB) was co-founded in 2017 by artists Alex Nolan and Rory Terrell as a 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organization.  Our mission is to bridge artists with their artwork and the public. As an advocacy group, we want to cultivate the arts for our community as well as foster growth and build equity for the artists of the beautiful Bay Area, by sourcing space and funding. Some benefits for the artists include a worthy stipend for the 12 month loan of their artwork.

We need your help!
In order for these concerts to happen, we need money to cover our expenses:

Pay and support our local musicians and artists
Renting stage and sound equipment
Bringing in established local talents
Creating the most enjoyable concert experience

All donations (through our fiscal sponsor, Local Artists Berkeley) are 501(c)(3) tax exempt!

Once our expenses are covered, ALL remaining funds will be donated to APEN.

Please help us support our local Asian immigrant communities!
