Steve’s Team - Devizes-Westminster International Canoe Race

Tim Long and I (Toby Thorman) are endeavouring to complete the Thrudark Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race 2025. This is the world's longest non-stop canoe race. It is 125 miles and 77 portages. We will be starting at Devizes on 19th April 2025 at about 10am and hope to complete the distance in 25 hours. We should arrive opposite Westminster on 20th April mid-morning if all goes to plan.

Tim conned me into paddling 4 years ago, as he needs one more finish to complete the race 8 times (1000miles). I have no idea why he would choose a complete novice to undertake this mammoth task. We have paddled through 4 winters in ice and snow. We have trained in three boats and finally we are ready!

We will be raising money for a small community charitable fund called Steve's Team. Steve's Team encourages lifelong participation in sport in memory of Steve Raynor. The money raised provides opportunities in sport for those who would not otherwise have them. For all kinds of reasons we all sometimes need a helping hand. Steve's Team encourages participation in any kind of sport to support good mental health and supports young athletes to keep going when it gets tough - like when you move school, go away to study or leave home.
