Shower Rain with Healing, Health & Love
Donation protected
Rain is a strong 11 year old girl. She has always been self driven and determined to succeed at everything. She is a competitive gymnast and a high achieving student, who also plays cello. She is a lover of water, sun, and the outdoors. Up until January 2019, she spent her days as most 11 year olds do: going to school, enjoying friends & family, playing cello and practicing with her gymnastics team. In January she became ill with debilitating pain, lethargy/exhaustion, bloody noses, and a list of other symptoms. The DRs identified that Rain has an enlarged spleen, but have not diagnosed the cause. With an enlarged spleen, she is unable to continue practicing gymnastics.
Rain now spends her days at home. On bad days, she is lucky if she gets out of bed long enough to eat a full meal. Rain is now under the care of UCSF Pediatric Infectious Disease department and Gastroenterology department. They have labeled her as a chronically ill patient. They have ruled out dozens of infectious diseases and some cancers. They are now on a path of ruling out additional cancers, masses, autoimmune disorders, tick borne illnesses (she was bitten by a deer tick in 2018), and other disorders. This path includes working with UCSF, the UCSF OSHER Alternative health center, Lyme-Literate MD care, Mederi Center in Oregon, as well as acupuncture. This is a fluid path of care, and is ever-changing. However, we hope that with the right resources, Rain will have a diagnosis and an identified true path of healing, and will be able to enjoy being a child once again!
Money raised, will go towards:
Co-pays for care from UCSF
Lab work & Imaging costs
UCSF OSHER Alternative Clinic care costs
FDA Approved tick borne illness tests & labs
Lyme-Literate MD & NP costs
