Shave for Oesophageal Cancer

Donation protected
I’ve been contemplating shaving this mop off for the last 12 months when my mates have been begging me for the last 3 years to do it or at least threatening to do it for me. In March 2012 at footy training I told the boys I was growing my hair which was met with strapping being thrown at me from across the change rooms and everyone saying I couldn't do it, I was too vein apparently ha. They were probably right until 7 years years later here I am sporting the man bun & probably now too vein too shave it off.
I’ve always said when the times right I’ll cut it off & do it for a good cause. In 2016 my wife's Dad Grant was diagnosed with Oesophageal Cancer that had unfortunately spread to his liver. Grant had reflux for years but had never had further testing and unfortunately at the time of being diagnosed it was too late. 9 months of treatment and after many set backs but without ever complaining Grant passed away with his mother, sister & his 5 loving children surrounding him. Even though he wasn't my Dad I saw first hand how much this can hurt a family & the grief that comes after it. I had a lot of respect for Grant & I and the other in-laws loved him dearly & is deeply missed by all of us. He was a simple, generous & selfless man that would do anything for his family. It seems sorta ironic I’m shaving my head considering Grant didn't have much hair anyway ha. My wife has told me many times there is just not enough awareness about Oesophageal Cancer & and an early detection could save your life & prevent the road that Grant had to go down.
Now everyone that knows me knows shaving my head is a big thing so I’ll be donating this beautiful man bun to help chemotherapy patients who have lost their hair & can be transformed in to a wig. I mean, I’m not really sure what sort of impact this will make but if I can help just one person then it’s been worth it. If you have a persistent cough, suffered relux or indigestion or have trouble swallowing go and ask your doctor for an endoscopy.

Any donation will be greatly appreciated as it will help raise awareness and much needed funds for Oesophageal Cancer and prevent other families having to go through what we did.

Much love

Chad xoxo
