Hi, my name is Shalie and I am reaching out to find any help in any way. My father has been sober for nearly five years. Loves to fish and camp. Loves to be outside and garden. He loves his Grateful Dead!

5 years ago my dad became sober and along came a few health issues with that. Which we knew and saw coming. However in the last year, his health has declined to the point of lengthy hospital stays, 2 surgeries and him needing his oldest daughter (myself) to move in and care for him. He recently developed a severe blood infection, bone infection as well as serotonin syndrome and has been in the hospital for nearly three weeks. After his hospital stay he will be moved to a skilled nursing facility for extra help until I can get the time off from work, and get his house set up for his safety. The two surgeries he has needed have not fixed his problem, which put him out of work and if you know my dad....he LOVES his work. This has been an extremely hard time for him mentally and emotionally.

He has insurance but his insurance will only cover so much, he's got medical appointments that will follow and physical therapy as well as occupation therapy. After that I will be taking over any or all expenses to make sure my father is cared for.

My family and I have decided that in my father's best interest, we move into his house to help him and make sure he is safe....as well as take care of the house. Which brings a HUGE responsibility on my shoulders. With full time work, school and a toddler....my plate is full and I'm running out of options. I will be taking time off work, but as we know that does not last long and can be expensive.

With your help, all donations would go to medical bills, help with getting bills paid while he's in and out facilities. As well as overall care for my father.

Any help is greatly appreciated. This was not expected and has been a very stressful ordeal. I appreciate you, and thank you SO much.
