My Big Brother Lloyd was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of brain cancer on January 23, 2015. Since that day he has waged a brave uphill battle with never an ounce of self pity . Lloyd's journey through cancer treatment has had many highs and lows and now our family is at a place where we need to reach out to our community of family and friends and ask for help in bringing Lloyd back home to Seattle.
Lloyd had his first brain surgery in February 2015 and appeared to be cancer free until April of 2016 when the cancer aggressively returned . Having very few options and after exhausting all the standard treatments, Lloyd was accepted into a treament study at City Of Hope Cancer Hospital in Duarte, California . On May 18, 2016, Lloyd had another surgery to remove the new tumor and a stint was inserted into his brain which enabled the doctors to infuse T-cells to fight tumor growth. This operation caused Lloyd to suffer a stroke that left the left side of his body paralyzed. While doing daily physical therapy and undergoing the T-cell treatment program, Lloyd suffered a pulmonary embolism. Unfortunately, Lloyd's wife, Juli, was recently informed that the tumor that was removed has already returned and has increased in size. Lloyd is now off of the clinical trial. He's been in bed in the hospital and has lost most of the gains he made in rehab. Lloyd is not allowed to fly on a commercial Airline in this condition.
I am asking for your help to get Lloyd home. He needs to be spending his precious time surrounded by his loving family and friends. He needs his loyal dog Raffi by his side. Lloyd's loving daughters, Ona and Alyssa, need him home. Juli, who has not left my brother's side for a moment, and who has spent every single day loving and caring and fighting for my brother, needs to bring him home and she needs to be home.
My Brother, who taught me how to ride a bike , who taught me how to row a boat , who taught me how to drive a car and who I have looked up to my entire life now needs to have a medical transport airlift home which costs 15K. Lloyd also needs extensive home care when he returns as he is completly disabled and his insurance does not provide for these things. Juli has talked about taking out a second mortgage on their home. I really do not want her to have to do that. On top of all the other burdens she has to bear, I am asking that you all help us make this journey happen.
